Dear friend

ANGER, its a bad one for me. It’s always a just anger. I never fly into rages for the sake of it. There is always good and just reason for it and rarely do I make it external, it is always a huge and raging seething internally and I tend to moan and mutter to myself :rotfl: . Then when I have calmed down I see really what I should have done is love the person more who has made me angry, this is the hardest thing to do, but I am getting better at doing it. Seeing as this is so hard for me, it is only the graces of God that are allowing me to overcome this problem.

I often think if I could harness the energy that flies about internally when I am raging to myself, I could probably power half the country with electricity!!!😃

On the few occassions I have externalised my huge and raging anger it has resulted in me crying and not saying much, usually I start some sort of cleaning or work that involves bashing something or I rant and rave outloud for a few minutes and feel completely horrible and deflated. I have stopped this thank God! Now it is the horrible internal rage that I have to osrt out and am doing well by the grace of God to resolve it.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I just heard an EWTN program on the radio that said anger was not a sin if it was just and you did not act out on it. It said that just feeling angry was not sinful. I usually go farther by thinking hateful things as well. I think this would qualify as sinful. I chose Gluttony, however. I am not overweight, but I exercise alot and I would be very fit if I didn’t give in to my sinful nature and eat without hunger sometimes daily. When I do this, I know good and well I am sinning and I would be better off to pray or read my Bible rather than eat mindlessly. Good poll, I think!

By the way, the worst time for me to sit down and eat like this is while I am on these forums. I was chowing down on Fritos when I answered this poll. It made me put them away 😃 .

It was tough to decide, but I finally chose pride over lust. Spiritual pride over spiritual lust, that is. I hardly ever do anger, but it seems that when I speak honestly to people they often do.

it used to be anger, then I got old and too tired for anger so now it is sloth, actually the devil didn’t put procrastination as a choice, so it would definitely be sloth.

I chose pride particularly when it slides into making judgements about other people.

Mine is definitely pride. Pride seems to open the door for most of the other deadly sins for me, especially lust and anger.

I’m right with you on this one. My biggest problem is procrastination, which I consider a manifestation of sloth. After that, probably pride.

I can ditto that.

But before I became serious about the faith (again) I must admit corporal pride and corporal lust that just transferred intself into spiritual pride and spiritual lust. :crying:

This is what you get from asking the Lord to show you your faults.

Blessings,

It was difficult for me to choose between anger, lust and sloth but I chose anger because I have had more trouble with that than any of the others. I am a whole lot better now than I used to be, probably because of penances received and mellowing with age! But when I do succomb to it I always regret it afterward. Thank God for the Sacrament of Reconciliation!!

I did not have to think about this one at all.
I am quite civilized, but you would never know…
Inside… I could be …feeling just the :banghead: opposite.
But these sins are not isolated.
I see anger’s roots in pride.
If I loose my patience with a fool, it is more than just anger.
It is also pride.

I chose pride… but it is by no means the only one I struggle with.

This poll forced me to take a look at myself, and I’m not sure I like what I see, lol.

I will try to be more aware of my motives behind my behaviors and try to avoid giving in to any of these tempting sins.

I voted for lust. Just typing the word gets me excited.

In our society, lust is a difficulty for many people. Funny thing is, we live in a ā€œif it feels good do it societyā€ then when you get caught doing it, everyone thinks you’re a disgusting pervert.

God save us.

Pride, pride, pride. Sloth is up there too for me. I don’t know about gluttony . . . maybe a combination of middle age and sloth? Well, back to pride again! :banghead:

Only one, eh?

Envy, I guess. Other people’s lives always look so much better than mine.

Having said that, I think it’s one of the ones I act out on the least. Sure, I want what they have (or want to be what they are), but I don’t do anything about it. So, thank God for sloth…

Anger and lust are also contenders, but, once again, sloth saves the day. I’m just too lazy to act out on them any more.

Nobody ever mentions the positive side of sloth. Unfortunately, you can be prideful without ever having to do anything.

Anger by far is my worst sin. It leads to hatred, swearing, etc.:banghead: This poll has me thinking now about how I can control it besides going to confession every other dayā€¦šŸ˜ƒ

Pride is my worst by far, but anger has become a close second over the past few years replacing lust. I am most certainly guilty of all of them, which obviously tells me I’m a giant work in progress.
