Which part is the sacrifice in the Mass

I tried to read the section on the sacrifice of the Mass in Catholic Encyclopedia and just really got confussed. It sounded like it was saying in the begenning that the Sacrifice wasn’t linked to the Eucharist but, simply the Mass itself. At other parts it sounded like it was saying that the sacrifice was the Eucharist. I am really confused, where does the Sacrifice fit into the Mass? Thanks and God bless.

The Mass itself is a re-presentation of the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross at Calvary. That’s why it is called the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ was sacrificed on the cross; that same Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, is what you receive in the Eucharist.

Hi Montie,

At the moment of consecration, Jesus offers HImself to the Father once more. Thus He re-enacts, in a non-bloody manner, the bloody sacrifice that he offered on Calvary.

This sacrifice is symbolized by the separate consecration of the bread and the wine, the blood being “separated” from the body and thus signifying the death of Jesus.
