Which Relgious order tends to have more traditional leanings

Hey everyone, i have a question

I am looking for help on which Order tends to have the most tradtional leanings. the Choices are Benedictine, Franciscan, Dominican, Carmelite or Carthusian? I feel i have a vocation to the Knights of the Holy EUCHARIST in Hanceville, Alabama. A quick google and following the home page and reading on the spirituality should help. they are franciscans, and St. Francis is my patron Saint, as well as St. Anthony (BTW, Happy early feast day St. Anthony!!), and St. Pio, i love the latin mass, love latin, gregorian chant, old school architecutre for Churches ( i mean 500 year old ), Incensce, Adoration, Holy Rosary, devotion to the Sacred Heart and im 16. I love how our LORD is reverenced in the EF , but the NO MASS is very beautiful too and has the exact same spiritual substance and power. I would like both forms of the Rite. However i want abit of social work as well, but not overly burdend, as well as the fact that i have aspiriations to be a Priest as well. A Religious Order Priest. I have talked to , and i continue to dialouge with a Vocations Director, i feel the call, feel the burning desire to minister unto OUR LORD and HIS PEOPLE! ,i have a spiritual director/confessor also to give my life and love away to JESUS AND ONLY JESUS. However i would appreciate the feedback from members on this forum. Please Chime In!! All replies are gladly accepted!

Well, that’s an easy question.

The answer is all of them. Benedictines hold to Benedictine traditions (Rule of St. Benedict), Franciscans to Franciscan traditions (Rule of St. Francis), Dominicans to Dominican traditions (Rule of St. Augustine and various statues), Carmelites to Carmelite traditions (Rule of St. Albert), and Carthusians to Carthusian traditions (following the rules specified by St. Bruno).

Sorry, what i meant was like they have the EF, and Latin and the whole 9 yards. I know they all have ties to pre vatican 2 as communites are in all of these respective orders, but, which one would have the MOST latin/traditional communites, out of all of them, and i dont just mean there respective traditions, btw, i love Franciscans!!

It varies so much among the different orders and congregations, there is no way to really answer your question.

One quick thing. If you love Gregorian Chant then Franciscans might disappoint you. If I remember correctly St. Francis essentially banned it’s use (could be wrong, but seemed a sore point when I learned loth from a Dominican)

If you’re interested in the Gregorian Chant, you may want to look into Clear Creek Abbey - they celebrate the EF Mass and the Congregation they are from has a huge emphasis on Gregorian Chant.

Basically, the statement that it varies considerably is true. As mentioned, Clear Creek Benedictines is great for the TLM, LOTH and all thing ancient. The Carmelites of Wyoming is another good one. The Franciscans of the Immaculate has already been discussed.

When it comes to one of the old Orders, I like the Dominicans (western province) They have permission to celebrate the Dominican Rite as do the other provinces but the western priests actually practice it frequently.

There is a lot of variation in all the Orders. some never celebrate the TLM others do somewhat.
