We’re not talking Bible here Tonyfish.

Peace be with you.

The question is what denotes “extreme poverty” and what denotes “moderate poverty” and what denotes “mild poverty”?

When the Baha’i Faith talks about poverty it is referring to the “extremes of poverty” as identified by UN agencies. We have included several links to help you with what exactly is described as extremes of poverty (shortened to just the word “poverty” in various Baha’i statements) by various agencies.

You seem to be looking for the words “extreme poverty” in all the Baha’i statements. Well you’re not going to see it, because the Baha’i statements are utilising the terminologies identified by the UN for various social problems in the world.

That’s the biggest problem with the definition. The UN are not a spiritual entity. Thus the Bahai looking at UN as a partner as fighting for end to "Extreme Poverty " lacks the nuances that come with the Spiritual since the side by side agreement in the terminology. Let me tell you Servant I’m not doubting the Bahai Will to see the poor be treated as people.

But What is the Bahai role being a part of the UN?

Is it this correct?

" The Bahai international Community is an NGO registered in the United Nations since 1948"

Can you clarify what this really means?

Meanwhile with regards to Pope Francis (albeit when he spoke to Swiss Bishops ), that:

While “many inhabitants keep their distance from the Church,” the Pope said, “the majority recognises the positive role of Catholics and Protestants in the social domain: their charitable engagement gives the poor and excluded a reflection of the tenderness of the Father.”

However, the Pope said, the Church is more than a charitable agency and the human needs it can meet go deeper than material goods.

“The witness of Christians and of parishes can enlighten their paths and support them in the search for happiness,” the Pope said. “In this way, the church in Switzerland can be itself and not just a great organisation, another NGO.”

Thus The people of the Church are not an NGO.

The Holy See is not a member of the UN.

Peace be with you.

MJ
Martin, We are working towards the same goal but you see us as a different team and thus are just trying to find ways to win.

We see to reach this goal there is only One Team, the Team of Humanity.

The team only works when we all play as team members and work on the strengths.

What goal is it that we are on the same side?

The Baha’i Faith is not a member of the UN either Martin.

.
So what Faith does the Bahai international community represent as an NGO and member of the UN?

Tony seems to believe the Holy See Mission in the UN is the same as the Bahai community representation in the UN as member. The former are part of the Catholic Church. The HSM is a Permanent Observer only in the UN.

There is no way on earth that you have read anything about the BIC if you are asking me that question Martin 🙂

Please read. I went to one website only to get an exact answer to your question.

Here’s a start for you:
bic.org/about/about-us#XqLSumcLom7AMDit.97

Why does HSM wish to observe UN affairs?

Point it out Servant. Quote it.

Observe. The HSM is not an NGO. But the BIC is.

Peace be with you.

The Bahá’í International Community is an international non-governmental organization with affiliates in over 180 countries and territories, which together represent over 5 million members of the Bahá’í Faith. As an international NGO, our Office interacts and cooperates with the United Nations, its specialized agencies, with governments, as well as with inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations. The BIC seeks to promote and apply principles — derived from the teachings of the Bahá’í Faith — which contribute to the resolution of current day challenges facing humanity and the development of a united, peaceful, just, and sustainable civilization. At this time, the work of the BIC focuses on the promotion of a universal standard for human rights, the advancement of women, and the promotion of just and equitable means of global prosperity.

So the BIC as an NGO represent the Bahai teachings. Therefore, the Bahai Faith is an NGO in the UN?

I have no interest in pointless questions when the information was provided.

Unless of course you have a world shattering point you wish to make.

You spend a lot of time trying to make issues of how ungodly the Baha’i Faith is with this or that piece of imformation, when it is all directed at loving our God.

So I leave it there, and consider from me…

God bless you always Martin and you have my Regards Tony

I have never said ungodly. I’m praying for you to not assume things.

Now, does the BIC represent the teachings of the Bahai Faith?

Peace be with you.

No Martin, the BIC represents the “social” teachings of the Baha’i Faith within the UN. It works to foster sustainable development.

Now, my question to you was, why does the HSM observe the UN?

The BIC is a Registered NGO. Can you locate this “social” teachings in it’s official statement?

Meanwhile:

The Holy See Mission at the United Nations in New York follows attentively and with interest the work of the United Nations Organization. In this forum, the Holy See Mission communicates the centuries’ experience of the Catholic Church to humanity, and places this experience at the disposal of the United Nations to assist it in its realization of peace, justice, human dignity and humanitarian cooperation and assistance.

The experience and activity of the Holy See is directed towards attaining freedom for every believer and seeks to increase the protection of the rights of every person, rights which are grounded and shaped by the transcendent nature of the person, which permit men and women to pursue their journey of faith and their search for God in this world.
