It seems that before the Gale Sayers book titled, “I Am Third”, that a Saint was attributed with the Quote (possibly paraphrased), “God is First, Others Second, and I am Third.” Who is the Saint? Where can I search for quotes from Saints?

I have heard that Mother Theresa said that, expressed this way:

JOY -

Jesus
Others
Yourself

Bott Radio (protestant denominations radio) had a preacher on today talking about their children learning “I am third” in religion classes.

This is something I was taught in my Catholic school education in the 50’s. Not sure if it comes from a Saint or is just a general Christian precept. As a matter of fact, I was taught this at home, too, in so many words. God is first, others are second, and you are third. Always think of others before yourself, and put God first.

You don’t hear much of this in secular society any more–it’s me first, it seems. And God is somewhere toward the bottom of the list.😦

BTW I heard Michelle Duggar referring to this on one of their TV episodes. It is one of the principles they try to instill into their children. She referred to it as JOY.
