What saints do you pray to for help?

Why did you choose that saint?

I don’t pray to saints. I ask them to pray for ME since they are living in Heaven and with God.
My favorites are Padre Pio, St. Anthony, and St. Clare. Also St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Having a Franciscan name (Clare) I am drawn to them. Padre Pio’s life and many miraculous events are inspiring to me.

I have been taught all my life by Jesuits, so I lean on Ignatian Spirituality.
 
As Clare said, it’s intercessory prayer…“praying to a saint” is Catholic “shorthand” for what we are really doing, asking them to “pray for us”.

I actually “pray to” (as in ask them to pray for me) lots of saints because I am building a Holy Alliance as advocated by Fr. Richard Heilman, where you add a saint for each plenary indulgence, and it gets up into the dozens of saints and eventually hundreds, but in terms of special saints, I often pray to:

St. Joseph because he is my spiritual dad and very important. We should never forget St. Joseph.
St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Jude because they were my parents’ patron saints
St. Patrick because I’m mostly Irish
St. Padre Pio because he helped bring me back to actively practicing my faith
St. Faustina Kowalska and St. Popes JPII and John XXIII each time I pray a Divine Mercy
St. Jose Sanchez del Rio because he sent me a little “note”
St. Monica and St. Margaret Mary because they are my patron saints
St. Anthony to find things and for husband’s conversion
St. Michael to protect us from evil and for anything involving law enforcement
St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta because I used to see her on TV all the time before she died and became a saint, so she seems very familiar

I also say the St. Gertrude and St. Bridget prayers every day, so in connection with those I will generally pray to St. Gertrude the Great, St. Gertrude of Nivelles (patron of cats), St. Bridget, and St. Brigid of Ireland.

I also pray for a number of people on the path to sainthood and, if they become canonized, some of them will likely be special “saints” for me.

I ask St Monica to pray for a friend who no longer goes to church because her prayers brought St Augustine to faith. I figure she must be very good at this prayer.
 
Always Mother Mary because when I was a kid and had severe scrupulosity I came across a prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour which sort of etched into my heart. My mom’s named after her as well. So it’s like personal confidence which makes me pray to Mother Mary. I pray to other saints very occasionally. The people keep changing. Whenever I think of any Saint it’s in wonder on how awesome they are and I wish to be like them.
 
I pray primarily to Mary, St. Joseph, St. Therese (my confirmation saint), and a few others for certain occasions. Lately, a bit more to St. Padre Pio, St. John Paul II, Mother Teresa. St. Francis for lost dogs or other pet issues. I don’t have a large repertoire since I find Mary and Joseph so powerful. I started to get drawn to Joseph a few years ago, got a little statue for my kitchen, and invoke him all the time. He’s especially great with anything related to the house and with general protection and safety. I think Joseph is going to become more important in the Church’s future.

These are the 4 most common right now in my life.
 
Saint Augustine, because his writings draw my attention to the Church Fathers, wich eventually led to my conversion to Catholicism.
Saint Thomas Aquinas for my studies and work (I’m a Professor).
Saint Francis of Salles, because he fought against the Calvinist heresy (I was a Reformed protestant before my conversion) and his preaching and piety brought many back to the Catholic Faith.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola, because of the proeminent role of the Jesuit Order in the Counterreformation.
 
St. Michael, several times a day/as needed.
Mary, a whole lot.
St. Joseph, because I am a father, husband and my work involves tools and is often physical.
St. Ignatius of Loyola, my confirmation saint.
St. Antony of the Desert, to help me lead a spiritual life in the midst of being a modern man.
St. Therese of Liseux, St. John Paul II, St. Mother Teresa, both of whom I just have a personal devotion to.
St. Augustine, for continuing and deeper conversion.
St. Robert Bellarmine, because my name is Robert, I love the Jesuits and Bellarmine was a great teacher which is something I have a charism for.

I also ask for the intercession of Padre Pio when I go to confession, to help me make a good confession, and to St. John Vianney to intercede for my confessor.

There might be a few more but those are the main ones.
 
I pray to the Blessed Virgin the most. I also will pray to St. Alphonsus Liguori for various things, but mostly for help in school since he studied a lot.
 
Hello evangelical, I have been asking the intercession of Saint Philomena, patroness of the children of Mary, as Saint Philomena, a brave young girl in the 300s, who refused to renounce Jesus Christ as her God, and who was greatly tortured as a result, and thus became the ONLY saint in Catholic Church History, to be canonized solely on the basis of her most powerful intercession where miracles abound, even before anything was ever known about her life. Philomena later revealed in visions to several of the faithful her life story. Please keep me in your prayers by asking Saint Philomena’s powerful intercession before God for me! I will do the same for you! May I also seek to imitate saint Philomena’s love for Jesus Christ! Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, our Good and Great God and Saviour

Saint Monica was my confirmation saint. She’s the only one I frequently ask for prayers. I admire her dedication to the faith and prayers for conversion of others very much. Honestly, I have no doubts she prays for me.
 
I am going to be very serious for a minute today…

St Mary of the Cross McKillop for my sick sister.

And a Priest whose cause has been opened for my other sick sister
 
I add a personal litany of Saints to pray for us affter the rosary, ( Mary is the Queen of all Saints without her intersession …)
It keeps growing each week or so, as I’m building that Holy alliance that someone else mentioned.
The litany changes depending on who the rosary is for if it’s my first of the day etc. But the ones allways included are:

St Dominic
St Jude
St Padre Pio
St Gemma Galgani
St Margaret Mary Alacouqe
St Therese of Lisieux
St Teresa of Avila
St John of the cross
St Bernadette
St Benedict
St Bruno
St Raphael, St Gabriel and St Michael.

The personal litany sounds like a great idea.

Saints that I frequently turn to are Mary, St Joseph, St Raphael,St Anne, St Michael. I also have a devotion to St Jude and St Philomena.
 
I ask for the intersession of St. Therese of Lisieux, because she’s my Confirmation saint and I believe in her promise to “let fall a shower of roses”, St. Padre Pio, because his cousin was my mom’s spiritual father so I’ve turned to him since the time I was a small child, and St. Anthony because of his legendary kindness (and eloquence - I’m very shy.) And of course Our Blessed Mother. The reason is evident in that title.
Also, I do at times ask the intersession of two who, while not canonized, I personally believe are saints in Heaven. Nellie Organ, a little girl whose love for the Eucharist played a huge role in the lowering of the First Communion age, and Marcel Van, a Redemptorist Brother who died in a prison camp for his faith.
