Which Scapular?

I have recently become interested in the brown scapular. Upon researching it, I realized there were a lot of other scapulars. I am a little confused about which one to choose. They all have great promises and reminders associated with them. Can you wear them all? Should you? The only one I have actually seen people wearing is the brown one.

It depends on the scapular. I, for example, as a lay Dominican, wear the Dominican scapular. But it’s to be worn by Dominicans, not just those who have an affiliation with Dominican spirituality like the Carmelite scapular.

I wear the fivefold which includes the Brown Scapular. For benefit of specific indulgences for wearing it on specific feasts requires enrollment and daily prayers for each in three of them (Trinitarian, Servite, Marian).

I adore the brown scapular and we should all endeavour to wear a scapular toobtain the grace that is bestowed.

Most scapulars are laypeople’s “habits” of a particular religious order. There are some exceptions, such as the Green Scapular, which is not the habit of an order.

You should not be selecting a scapular based on promises - you should rather be selecting one based on the spirituality of the associated order and whether this is something you wish to practice in your daily prayer life.

The Brown Scapular is the most popular, but I have seen people wearing the fivefold. Also you don’t really know what scapulars some people wear because a lot of people wear them under their clothing so you can’t see them, which is really the appropriate way to wear a scapular unless you are a member of a lay order wearing a very large visible one as your “habit” during appropriate times.
