Which should I read first?

I got St. Teresa of Avila’s “The Inner Castle” and “The Way of Perfection”. Does it matter which one i read first? Which do you suggest?

Oh, you lucky person, you have a whole lot of wonderful reading ahead of you!!
St Teresa wrote ‘The Way of Perfection’ relatively early on (right after her “Life”); ‘The Interior Castle’ was writen toward the end of her life, and it was the fruit of her more mature thought, so I would start with the ‘Way’, and go on to ‘Castle’ later…
But they are just so terrific! May you be greatly blessed by reading them!! She is my favorite, favorite saint!!

In formation for the OCDS group, I use to belong to, we always began with “The Way of Perfection,” then the “Interior Castle.”

I enjoyed “Interior Castle” more than “The Way of Perfection” since there seemed to be more that pertained to my life in the laity:shrug: .

I read “Interior Castle” first and “The Way of Perfection” second. Looking back now, I think it would have been better for me to read “The Way of Perfection” first and then “Interior Castle”. I may reread “Interior Castle” in the future.
