Masturbation or murder?
Actually, there may be a correct answer to the OP’s post. Scripture tells us that there is one sin that will not be forgiven in this life or the next. I might be temptedto say that this sin is the one sin God dislikes the most.

Any thoughts?

No one practicing either has any inheritance in the Kingdom established by God. Seemingly little or big things, we turn from all of them, doing penance and being reconciled to our Lord.

We are his servants - he has not requested (nor will he) that either of those be done in the world.
It is only the self-serving who turn to the practicing of works like those and approve of others also not serving.

The question shows a lack of understanding, which is obvious taking pixels at face value.

Considering a lack of understanding, I think it’s possible the question is asked in honesty.

However to understand an answer, the asker has to understand details about sin that may not be possible at this time.

There are sins that display the weakness of people, and there are sins done out of other means than weakness.

The underlying problem though is - sin - avoid it.

Better, seek to be virtuous considering the two great commandments.

It’s a great step in life to go from seeking to avoid, to seeking to serve.

No better way to scare folks away from the truth than by telling them the hope we all have, as sinners, is only for, you know, only specific sinners, not others.

I was gonna say pride, but yeah, murder’s gotta be up there too 🙂
Out of masturbation or murder, it’s got to be murder. One is self harm from which you can recover, the other is harm to another from which they can’t recover.

Also, if a person keeps the ten commandments, they are dwelling in a realm where keeping the first two can be possible:
example:
If I were to kill my neighbor, there is no further option to love him.
But if I do not kill my neighbor, he is in front of me and there is opportunity to actually love, to do my doings virtuously in relation to him.
The ten are a kind of realm where the two can actually happen.

Racing down the highway leaves no time or space for merging traffic. But following the speed limit (law) allows me time to notice others needing space on the road (virtue) and make room.

Interesting thought process.

I would think if the 10 were the foundation of the 2, it seems Jesus would just say ‘the 10’ when asked about the greatest.

I think the two are the foundation of life, which if done well avoid the need for the 10.

The 10 were given because coming out of a pagan world as slaves, it was important to not repeat what was previously practiced, even as slaves - in the pagan world from which they came.

Obviously, the 10 were important since they didn’t hit sea level before it was obvious they were needed.

The sin which God will not forgive is unwillingness to seek forgiveness. God will forgive anything we ask forgiveness for. Only unrepentant unto death is unforgivable because we don’t ask for forgiveness.

Masturbation or murder?
Murder. It is premeditated and involves the hurting of another as well as the taking of life from someone which God gave in the image of Himself.

Then sexual sins, to various degrees of seriousness.

I had an answer until I clicked on the post and saw that you gave those options.

Masturbation or murder?
Instead of just putting up any 2 sins for comparison which will just end up with too many combinations, why don’t you go straight to the sin that is the most disliked? Or at least what we think anyway.
