Which St. Francis did the Pope take his name after?

He is a Jesuit which lends credence to the St.Francis Xavier position, but it could easily be both.

That’s what I first thought of. I didn’t even think about it maybe being St. Francis Xavier, but that would also make sense – being one of the founding members of the Jesuits.

{I have to admit that I just looked that up – not knowing much about St. Francis Xavier. 😊}

I already like this new Pope. Not even knowing that much about him, my gut is telling me this Pope is going to be huge!! I pray that he is.

According to what I heard on EWTN radio, he took the name after St. Francis of Assisi.
