Hello

My undergraduate degree is in the sciences and I have no formal training in theology. However, I’ve done a lot of self-study with regards to the Catholic faith and consider myself to be moderately competent with catechism. I would like to take an online course from the Catholic Distance University but I’m unsure as to how to go about choosing a course. I’m thinking about doing one of the undergraduate courses but am afraid it will be too easy. Should I just dive right into graduate? Which subject matter would be best for someone just starting out? Thanks.

I will be watching the answers here with great interest.

I have taken a class (and plan to take many more from Notre Dame’s Online STEP program step.nd.edu/

I found it to be wonderful and would recommend it highly. It seems to be aimed at people looking to be RCIA instructors, but they are happy to take “self-enrichment” folks as well.

Hope that helps!

God Bless

Have to promote my Alma Mater…

and they also have

Noncredit Courses

I don’t really need college credit. Can I just buy the materials?

here is a great one there…

Check your PMs.

STEP looks interesting, I’ll have to took into that.

I think Franciscan is much less flexible … you need recommendations and such and it’s strictly Masters level. I work and go to grad school so I don’t really have time to dedicate myself full time for theology so online courses / seminars are great.

I don’t want to overestimate my abilities and jump right into the summa theologia so i’ll probably just do the intro undergraduate stuff and work my way up from there.
