Adam was to tend the garden (keep Satan out) and take care of Eve. Eve was to support Adam and assist. The devil was in the garden and Eve was alone. See Adam’s job description. Eve was tempted. Since Eve was to support Adam, she would see no reason why he should not eat as well.

God never told Eve not to eat of the fruit. He told Adam to care for the Garden adn for Eve. Adam failed.

Actually Eve even said to the serpent what God had said. So she also knew but did not consult Adam and if should would have satan would have fled. Like this guy over here says this it is ok to eat from this tree. They were to support each other. And communicate which must have been lacking. God is trying to teach us how clever the devil can be, and we suffer the consequences.

I agree.

The deceiver was satan. The deceived was both Eve and Adam.

Neither.
Adam knew more about creation because God created the garden and the animals after He created Adam and Adam named the animals. Adam is directed by God not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil because if he did he would die. What does Adam know about death? Nothing.
God tells Adam not to eat from the tree of life. What did Adam know about life? Only what he could observe and deduce directly through experience. By the way, Adam had no name. He was called the man. There was no death and so he would not know what life would mean without death.
Nowhere does it state that the woman had any information given to her by God. She is given her first impression of who she is by Adam and he only identifies her through the 5 senses just as he had done with the rest of creation. She is called woman which represents a very superficial description of God’s creation.
Since they do not know good and evil and do not know death because they haven’t eaten from either tree, they are then ignorant of what they have not experienced or learned.
Adam is standing next to Eve when she eats. Being made from Adam’s flesh means that she is one step removed from the earth that Adam was made from. She follows her direction from his teaching. She responds to him because he is the more experienced with this unknown world and living in an unknown awareness experienced through the 5 senses created by an unknown Creator.
Being one flesh means that what he experiences will then affect her and her reaction to his experience will cause a reaction in him. Since there is no danger signal from the man, the woman feels no danger. Every self aware person desires to know who they are and where they are. God created this in us in order to know Him.
Only when the man eats do they both feel shame. One flesh exists either in love or in fear.
Eve does not get her true name from the man until they are removed from the garden, or, could it be considered the Womb?
Only after the man becomes aware of the knowledge of good and evil does he develop the wisdom to identify her as Eve which means living. He would not know this without knowing good and evil.
The trauma of knowing a previously unknown and invisible life threatening force will shock the brain out of its innocence and destroy the delicate balance of perfect contentment that was there at creation. This life threatening experience is now called acute stress response and later develops into posttraumatic stress if left untreated and it affects generations of families and the cultures they form to protect them from invisible enemies.
It is from fear that sin forms.

The animals were created after Adam.

Interesting observations on the remainder of your post.

Sorry, I was rushing through. Please check Gn 2;19. I was basing my point on that passage.

Sorry, again. That’s what I get for rushing. They were removed from the garden to prevent them from eating from the tree of life.

The reason for my previous interpretation comes through understanding the innocence and purity of Mary being born without sin but not knowing her purpose in life until she is told by the angel. This came to me during my morning Rosary Runs. Without knowledge from God and being communicated to us we do not know who we are and are searching until God’s Grace touches us. Primarily we search for meaning from our parents and then from other human relationships until God’s Grace is communicated to us.
Only then do we see ourselves different from what we have been taught by human beings.
Only suffering can open us to a mature relationship with God.

I was ready to return to work, now I really must go.
Thanks for your correction.

I find this all very protestantistic. You appear to be saying that the Protestant ‘literalist’ perspective is true then?

So who came first Adam or the dinosaurs? 😉

Blessings and peace

To interpret what I said you as literalist you would have to be a literalist.
My interpretation is based on studying identity formation in relationship to who we are dependent on. The psychology of being human is almost never considered from the literalist perspective.
The symbolism of the man naming the creatures. The symbolism of the woman being told by the man who she is and not being told by God shows us where our sense of self first develops and how ignorance can create problems in human relationships.
The symbolism of the man being made from the clay and woman being made from living matter with a certain level of awareness has implications that are as yet undiscovered.
Did you read everything I wrote, because it appears you took certain things totally out of context because they did not fit in with your preconceived belief. Now that is what the protestant perspective does with scripture.
Quantum physics and in particular quantum mechanics has the beginning of understanding of one flesh.
The mystery can begin to be understood in terms of being made in His image and likeness.
Please look at the post in its entirety.
I have written 12 pages on just this thread and have only touched the surface. This was motivated by praying the Rosary during my morning runs.

Your morning Rosary runs sound like a great way to start your day. For me it is wrapping tefilin and saying a few prayers.

I see you are from the NY area. I just returned from a visit with our daughter there. We ran from her place and over the Brooklyn Bridge which, for me, was a hill and then headed along the river towards the Statue of Liberty until I saw Wall St. We turned up there into a heavily secured area and then found the site of the Twin Towers. I was speechless. We prayed for peace and climbed the hill, I mean the bridge and went back to her apartment.
God Bless

Satan was the deceiver.

Adam and Eve both betrayed God.

It’s that simple.
That’s the problem, it is not that simple. What comes from our lips reveal what is in our hearts. Since I now have a better understanding of God I cannot do what I did for 40 years when I did not know him. When I did not understand sin I did not know the harm it could cause others or myself.
The man and the woman could not know sin or evil and thus could not betray God.

Well, that’s personal opinion, not Church teaching. 🙂

I forgot. From the cross Our Lord said forgive them for they know not what they do.
Free will only exists as we become aware of the consequences of our choices. To forgive from the Cross is the ultimate expression of free will. Wisdom exhibited from the Cross is the mystery of God’s love that can only develop in humanity when we stop judging based on human perception. Betrayal is human understanding of events based on a lack of knowledge of what it means to be human from Christ’s perspective on the Cross.
When we know why we are here we will know how to live our lives. Did the man and the woman know why they were here?
