Out of all the times in history, there is a country that could easily wipe out every Muslim land, don’t you think that it would be wise for some muslims to try and calm the U.S.?

More than Muslims, it is your obligation as a Priest to calm the US and urge its people not to attack muslims and muslim holy sites.

Am I right?

If so, how has your participation on this forum recently served that goal? Are you assisting the Vatican in building understanding between muslims, and in urging the United States away from using indiscriminate violence against Muslims?

I am not the priest.

I have never once advocated for a war of annihilation against muslims.
I have never desired the use of U.S. military might to resolve my problem that Islam teaches war.
I have never urged indiscriminate killing of muslims.
I have never argued for the U.S. to overrun the Middle East, take all the oil, dhimmitize or kill all the inhabitants, and prohibit Islam.
I have not desired for europe to take back all the land lost in a full scale battle that would surely kill a billion people

Yet

My problem is soley with the teachings of Islam. The muslims are just being decieved to the highest degree.

Can you agree that those are missions of the Church, regardless of your personal opinion on Islam?
 
Maybe Muslims will renouce destroying OUR sites. Haghi Sophia in Constantinople, they sacked St. Peter’s in Rome back in the 7th century, they tried to kill John Paul II, they kill my fellow Catholics and persecute them. Tell you what. When they stop that I will be less belligerent.

Okay, so are you denying that it is the policy of the Vatican to make peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians?

Or are you just ignoring that policy, and doing something to directly contravene the stated goal of the Vatican on a Catholic forum?

Which is it?

The more you dodge the question, the more clear it becomes: you will not let the teachings of the Church get in the way of your personal bias.
 
We pursue peace with them the way the US did with the USSR. We have to deal with them. They can, and often do, persecute Catholics. We want to minimize that. But we don’t delude ourselves that Islam is a friend. We know what they have done to Christianity and what they will do. We don’t want to be dhimmi. So we don’t trust them or become useful idiots. I think with B16 you will see a greater willingness to counter Islam.

If I don’t agree that it is the mission of the U.S. as of now, why would I agree that it would be the mission of the Church.

If a priest points out the double standards of Islam, I have no problem with it. There are many priests, and many books written by priests that clearly say that Islam is not a religion of peace.

Is Peace and Understanding synonomous with deluding ourselves to what Islam is?

Peace could mean ensuring military strength, retaining the western world’s position of power.

Understanding can mean that we understand the goals of Islam for the world.

Now what is it I get from you? A clear “no, I will not defend my statements based on Church teaching”?

An infantile “if you insult muslims first, then I’ll give you the Church’s teaching as I see it?”

I’m really starting to doubt that you are a Priest. I have not met a single one who would be unwilling to discuss his teaching at any available opportunity.
 
Again, as seems typical, you misconstrue what I have said. I don’t ask you to bash Islam. I just ask you what you think about Muhammed and the quran. You seem to have no problem bashing Jews. Far from it.

  1. Islam is, in the words of his Holiness Pope Paul VI, to be respected and admired for the good it does contain. My opinion of Muhammad and the Quran is that they left the peoples of the Arabian peninsula closer to God, and that respect for the tradition of tolerance in Islam may help to build a bridge between Islam and Christianity.
  2. I have not once bashed Judaism. My faith demands that I respect Judaism and Jews as worshippers of the same God I worship. That doesn’t mean I have to approve of every bomb Israel drops.

This is a bit better. You are closer to convincing me. But it still isn’t any different from what any Muslim could say. It is deliberately vague. And btw I haven’t seen you worrying about bombs in pizza joints or the world trade center. You don’t seem to protest those very much. I haven’t seen you decry one muslim bomb yet.

It’s certainly not my aim to convince you that I’m Catholic by bashing Muslims.

It is my aim however, to get an answer from you as to how you can be a Priest, yet make statements condemning Islam and supporting the use of Nuclear weapons against Muslim holy sites.

Why won’t you answer?
