There has been some mention of seperated brethren on other thread, so who are they?

When I was in a holiness church everyone was that wasn’t in that church.

The prayer of the Church states
2768; According to the apostolic tradition, the Lord’s Prayer is essentially rooted in liturgical prayer; …
St. John Chrysostom, Hom.in Mt.19;4 pg, 278.

When I was in the protestant church everyone was just a bro and a sis.

Now as a Catholic I am taking the Lord’s prayer more seriously than I did before.

2768 second part;
[The Lord] teaches us to make prayer in common for all our brethren … Mt.19;4 …
CCC

What does seperated mean to you? Catholic or other.

I think it means other Christians who share the essentials of the faith, such as a right understanding of the Trinity, and sin, etc. but are separated from communion with us because either they don’t have the truth presented to them, or because they reject certain elements of full communion, such as authority of the Magisterium, the Eucharist, etc.

Precisely the view to take! As Catholics we have two responsibilities regarding our wayward brothers and sisters in Christ: (1) to pray for them, that God brings them to the fullness of truth; and (2) to patiently explain what the kata holos church is and why.
