Not games but I have a whole bunch of free donation sites listed on my website:

freewebs.com/kat74/freedonationsites.htm

Most of them just count one click per day per computer. it’s something I do while I wait for e-mails to open etc…🙂

p.s. And for websearches I try to use searchkindly.org these days, I think they donate something for every search.

Will do so, reens… with all my heart.
Thank you, MarieVeronica. I am grateful to you.

I was thinking today of the connection between
being abandoned and despair.

Despair is another word that comes from the French.
désespoir - literally, to have no ‘hope’ espoir].
-to be “separated” from hope.

I think that having no hope that a deleterious reality will ever change, may bring one close to despair. One can lose hope.

Often, one who is abandoned may feel close to despair.
“If nobody wants me, why should I want me?” “I’m worthless.”

But God sees every tiny bird that falls, and He has counted the hairs on my head.
In God’s sight, each of us is of infinite value to Him.

To the one who is abandoned, God says:

"Even if your mother forget you,
“I will never forget you.”
“See? I have written your name on the palm of My hand.”
-Isaiah 40

Such an amazing, and humbling, thought.

How does a mere sinful mortal believe such a thing! Yet He says it is so.

Even if I be culpable in truth of abandoning society and my own welfare, we are asked not to judge - even if I am the prime cause of my own problems…rather “whatsoever you do to one of these, thought it be the least of my bretheren, you have done it to me”.

Thank you, Barb. To walk through a nursing home
is like walking the way of the cross. “I thirst.”

As Jesus was abandoned by all His apostles, but one,
sometimes it is just one member of a family who
stands near the one who is suffering. As the people
of Jerusalem could not hear the cries of those
who were being crucified - Out of sight, out of mind -
it is Mercy, Himself, Who does not abandon,
then - or now.

Do not cast me off in old age.
When my strength fails, do not forsake me. Psalm 71

In the modern world, thousands of years after the Psalms were created,
physical strength is not critical to survival, as it was, thousands of years ago.

Today, many who are in nursing homes, suffer from various forms of dementia.
They can no longer safely care for themselves, unattended by another.

For us, in the 21st century, we hear the same cry - in a way that conforms
to the reality of our own time:

Do no cast me off in old age,
When my mind fails me, do not abandon me.

And the same could be said, for those who endure
illness of the mind, or psychological illness.

Do not go away and leave me all alone.

Reen, this is a beautiful few posts i have seen here. Of course i will pray for the grace of God to allow no such pain towards your mother, and mercy as well.

And the same could be said, for those who endure
illness of the mind, or psychological illness.

Do not go away and leave me all alone.

I can see how easily it is to see illness in the aged, the pain in the inability to walk, and the abuses i believe are there due to being vulnerable and forgotten.

On the other hand it is NOT easy to see the illness when the body looks strong. So easily we assess, and say that they look ok, musent be that bad. I tell you this, it is all to similar to the aged vulnerability i see a lot of.

Both are members of our society, and dignity is a give in, not a negotiable. As soon as one shows signs of not being able to handle something, they are cast aside, disposable. But i have it on very GOOD athority, that when someone shows patience with the ones hurting, an ear is so Christ like. A little note to know they are remembered is so Christ like. To be told you have worth is so Christ like. To be close enough to friends you trust are there to help you so that they can see your pain, and show you how you are allowing people to walk all over you…is so Christ like.

Some how, i can state to you, that two years ago, i mattered to two friends, and we piggybacked each other when in need. We held each other up when the other thought they could not go on.
THAT is half the difference in my life, the other half is in MY hands. I did not know this two years ago…it empowered me to know i had worth, and finally i believed, by example, what the scriptures say…i am worthy, i am his child, and unless you believe this, it remains a major contributor to mental illness and depression.

Thank you Reen and John for being my mental health goo roo’s, but mostly my friends!

And you taught me the importance of “pictures,” in the life of the soul.
You showed me that words fail, sometimes, and that reality cannot be “caught” -
solely in words.
Many human beings, in life, may be shattered vessels,
but, together, with the grace of God, we can carry a fair amount of His healing waters -
slopping over the rim, and through the cracks, sometimes.

God calls to the strong, in this world, on occassion, by letting
His weakest and most wounded, carry His message - for
then it is clear that the message is His. It couldn’t* possibly*
be ours. http://bestsmileys.com/nono/9.gif

And for all the talk about “running races,” offered by St. Paul,
those who are not strong in life know - that He will come and
carry us across the finish line, if need be.

And you made me laugh, as I have not laughed since college days.
And for that, I am truly grateful, Lana. Because laughter
bespeaks a blessed sense of proportion, in life. And this
has been a great blessing to me.

Thsnk you Reen…and to all reading this, i only wish others to be able to find kinship like this. The one who tends his sheep, not corrects his sheep, but really sits on the curb with them. If need be, to actually get down in the mud with them. I do have to admit, this threesome has allowed no one to, for any long period of time, ever be without one of us to talk and lean on.

My mercy sent to me from up above!

Dear Rammy, Reen,ncJohn, and all,

There are those for whom the act of abandonement was performed upsidedown. Those who woke up one nite with a hole instead of a heart.

There are those for whom reality was the bouncer throwing them down the stairs to the dark basement.

With the door locking from the top of the stairs and the light is out.

There are those who have met the Watchers on those dark, rainy, illit street corners, and know for whom they watch.

A hole for a heart is not a good reciepe for success.

Ablack, unquenchable hole, with no bottom.

No sir. Not good.

Thanks be to the Woman clothed with the sun, she who held out her hand to me in my darkest hours.

She alone knew my misery she alone was there to search for me. and help.

She helped. She’s the Mother of the Son. Thank God for that.

quote: Rammy
If need be, to actually get down in the mud with them.
When human beings find themselves face down in the mud, having
fallen through sin - and when they feel crushed, under the weight of those sins,
if they can manage to lift up their head a little,
they will find Jesus, face down in the mud, too, right beside them,
looking at them with great compassion, as He lays there -
Him having fallen under the weight of the cross three times.

He fell, because the weight of our sins was very heavy.
He fell, that He could lift us up to His Father.
We are not alone, as we lay there, crushed by our sins.
Love Himself is there with His divine Face covered in mud too.

Veronica wiped the face of Jesus, as He made His way along the Via Crucis.
The mud and sweat on His face was wiped away.
I wonder if Jesus thought, then, in His agony, of the paste of mud that He had made,
to rub on the blind eyes of the man whom Jesus released from blindness.

familiar with suffering.’

Mary was told by Simeon

“A sword shall pierce your heart.”

True woman that she is, Mary “pondered these things, in her heart.”

Mary was ‘Mother of Sorrows, familiar with suffering,’
and she knew the terrible cost that both she and her Son would endure for us.

Only such a woman can bring light, and understanding and love
into places where even angels fear to tread. She, whose
“heel would crush the head of the serpent,” was able
to uphold Magdalen, who was crushed in grief, and Mary
will uphold any soul who asks her.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help… was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
Mother of Jesus, Mother of God, Mirror of Justice, Morning star,
Refuge of sinners, in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Oh Mary, concieved without sin, Pray for us who recourse to thee.

Oh Mother of perpetual Help Pray for us!

Oh Mary, help us!

I thank you oh most holy Mother of God, for the great mercy you have shown me.

You have pitied me in your kindness and prayed my cause before your Son.

Thank you.

She who held out her hand to me in my darkest hours. She alone knew my misery she alone was there to search for me.

Sawman…this too happened to me. When my son was diagnosed terminal at age 7, i did not know how to be his mother. I mean, i did not know how to hold such pain and sorrow, and still remain within me, the strength to carry on with dignity and strength. How was i going to replenish my strength to go on and give this little sparrow quality of life, knowlege of his maker, and a knowlege that God placed this before him/us to learn from it, and to be brought closer to him.

I knew this part, but how to i get from exasperatingly exhausted, red nose, swollen eyes, and smile with Gods love inside of me.

I was praying, and i seen Mother Mary come before me and i asked her how was i going to do this. SHE answered me softly,
“THIS IS THE WAY” and i could not see what was in her hands, and so she draped them over her two opened palms a beautiful blue rosary. She then said, “His glory will be yours as you come to him through me!”

Then she said something else, and i could not hear her, and so she placed her words over her vision like a teleprompter, and i could not see the words. Then it was gone…the vision.

I often wondered what the rest of that was, but as other spiritual councel has said, if she really needed you to know this, it would come again to you.

There are those for whom the act of abandonement was performed upsidedown. Those who woke up one nite with a hole instead of a heart.
I know this to be true sawman. The hole I awoke with was not one of physical poverty, but it was a hole nonetheless.

The sad thing is that there are people all across the spectrum who have awakend to this. Many of them are the very people we tend to envy, the ones who seem to “have it all”.

Those addicted to money, thinking they find in it a substitute for the love they hadn’t experienced. Those addicted to fame, finding the attention there that they had not been given. Those addicted to sex, unaware that is is a poor substitute for intimacy. And those addicted to power, seeking to “kill” that sense of powerlessness that so crushes them by lording it over others.

All of us are crushed and broken. Some find the Light in the darkness, while others pretend they aren’t in the dark at all.

I think in many cases the only difference is that some have the means to avoid having to confront the darkness. I saw a recent forum on racism where a black man commented that the African-American community has had to essentially learn two languages, in having to learn the white language in order to figure out how to navigate in our white world. The white man however, because it is his system, can essentially just ignore the black man as if he doesn’t exist.

The poor, and those without the resources to put a mask on their darkness, are basically in that same boat. They have to learn how to “work” the system just to survive, while those of us better off can make do and pretend there isn’t a problem, and just step over those in desperate need as if they didn’t exist.

I truly hope, sawman, that if we one day stumble across each other that I will not be one to step over you. Or worse yet, to push you out of my way. But I know that I too am a weak and wounded human being and entirely capable of the worst of human behavior. Please keep me in your prayers–as I do you–as you have strengths I will likely never know.

Peace,

All of us are crushed and broken. Some find the Light in the darkness, while others pretend they aren’t in the dark at all.

I have been luckyier than a few of my friends, and knew of God for a very long time. I really did not sucumb to abuses of which made me fall to the darkness untill leaving home as a young girl.

So when these horrible things happened, it WAs awful, and i did not deal with them for a very long time…but i never lost sight of the light. That was undammaged, but i never knew i was dammaged for a very long time as well.

I can not imagine not having that light to lean on…even if i could not reach it at times, i still knew it was there. What would life have been if i had no light to lean on, i dare not try and recall.

God was patient…

Dear all,

Thank you for your kindness. In keeping with the thread, one of Reen’s posts reminded me of my own abandoment.
By God’s great mercy and kindness I can say that was an episode that has been over low these many years.
I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.
There were miracles that allowed me to heal during that time.
My wife and I both survived as a couple too.
I’ll tell the tale sometime.
Bless Him though!
I bless Him with all my heart, strength, and will!

And one time as I prayed so so hard to her for help, I wouldn’t shut up at all, and she put her hand under my chin and lifted my face.

She then put her finger to her lips and smiled.

Then I was quiet.

And knew I’d been heard and loved.

I can say pretty confidently that nobody really cared when I was abandoned. Once I turned 11 it was one bad moment after another, with several nights where my depression really took over. The people who were supposed to be supportive did nothing for me; after all, I had “nothing to be upset about…I lived a ‘wonderful’ life…” I’ve just learned to rely on myself and don’t even bother asking for help anymore. I wish I could have had an experience where I would have known I wasn’t alone.
