Canonized in 1962 by Pope John XXIII , I can remember the interest in St Martin de Porres .

It was a time when there were fewer canonizations than there are today , and we were encouraged to take an interest in the saints as the process for their canonization was bearing fruit .

I love that image :slightly_smiling_face:Dear St Joseph.

Our Lady as well ,and at present Padre Pio,St Thomas Moore,St Francis of Assisi,St Anthony,St Theresa of Calcutta,St Mary of the Cross…it is continually changing depending who I’m asking to intercede and also in growing to know more of various ones, being introduced to new Saints 🙂

St John the Baptist reminds me that we are called to be prophets , plus that essential comment " I must decrease . He must increase" .

Your list is so similar to mine! All the Theresa’s 😊. Edith Stein (Theresa Benedicta of the Cross) converted after reading the autobiography of Teresa of Avila. I also love St. Maximilian Kolbe. His love of the Blessed Virgin is tangible.

With my Jesuit upbringing , parish and school , plus St Ignatius of Loyola is a spiritual giant .

I must include this man , Blessed John Henry Newman to be Saint John Henry Newman from 13th October , as well as these words of his which were our spiritual reading at last night’s SVP meeting " God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission—I never may know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good, I shall do His work; I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it, if I do but keep His commandments and serve Him in my calling. Therefore I will trust Him. Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him; if I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. . He does nothing in vain; He may prolong my life, He may shorten it; He knows what He is about. He may take away my friends, He may throw me among strangers, He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide the future from me—still He knows what He is about. "

a man who never speaks once in the New Testament. He always obeys God no matter the cost. The only man entrusted by God to protect his begotten Son and the Holy Virgin. The guardian of the Church, Terror of Demons, patron of Fathers and woodworkers, patron Saint of Canada… (I could.still go on as he does so many things…)… and the one whose prayers kept me alive last month…

St Joseph

Today Saint Peter. Yes, he helped me a lot.
And lately also Saint John the Baptist and Saint John Chrysosthom. They helped me through some difficult spiritual struggles of mine.

St Stephen , the saint whose name I took when I received the Sacrament of Confirmation .

Our Lady and St. Dominic would be top two, then St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Catherine of Siena I think, though of course that doesn’t mean J think less of other saints 😂

Thank you for your Reader’s Digest condensed book. That’s absolutely amazing. I’m staggered.
Praise be to God.

For a start, @Zach’s same list of eight:
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, Peter, Jude.
Plus many more who have already been named here.
Plus one more who, surprisingly, hasn’t appeared until now: St. Jerome.

Heaton Park in Manchester in 1982 when I was close to the only canonised person I have ever been in the presence of .
