Who are your favorite stand-up comics and movie comedians?

I have never heard of him before.
 
I recently found MeTV and Carol Burnett reruns (and also old Perry Mason but that’s for a different thread:)). I am amazed at how well most of those sketches have stood the test of time and still make me laugh.

Jim Carrey is definitely a top fav of mine. I also enjoyed a lot of Bill Cosby’s stuff…Too bad about all the stuff that was found out about him :confused:

Robin William’s stand up stuff was a bit too crude for my taste, but I loved a lot of the roles he played in movies 🙂 He was a great actor and an overall great person.
 
Oh yeah, and a lot of Steven Wright’s stuff is pretty great, too. Some of his stuff made me laugh so hard I couldn’t breathe!

is it slapstick? not sure I like that type of comedy. the reason I might not want to watch it is because it might not hold my interest.

One of my favorite Carol Burnett skits is the one where Lyle Waggoner was the american POW, Harvey Korman and Tim Conway were SS officers who were going to interrogate him. Tim Conway then shouts, "If you wont’t tell us the secrets, you will talk to the Fuhrer! "

And he pulls out a little Fuhrer puppet and ends up singing “I’ll be working on the railroad”
 
Will Farrell as George W is hilarious. Last night during the debate my son kept saying “I can’t take Jeb seriously. He looks so much like Will Farrell acting like George W.”

I have always like spoofs on presidents. SNL has always a great job with this.

Carol Burnett as Scarlet O’Hara wearing the gown made from a curtain with the rod still in it. I will never forget that! It still makes me laugh. 😃

Jamie Foxx as Wanda on In Living Color is very funny too.

I remember renting a VHS tape of Buddy Hackett in Atlantic City back in the 80’s and it was hilarious! I wish it would come out on DVD; you can find stray copies on VHS on Amazon but I imagine the quality is significantly degraded after all those years.

I have some vinyl in storage that belonged to my father…Don Rickles, Myron Cohen, TV and radio bloopers, and of course my George Carlin albums.
