Spongeworthy
I never understood why Elaine and Susan and others would want to stock up on something that had been discontinued. Presumably, they didn’t want to get pregnant. I’m probably overthinking what is
“just comedy.”

Natalie Portman, but she could stay away from politics too though I doubt she ever will.
Many times I wonder if acting simply isn’t challenging enough for her because she’s so smart and it’s a silly business in the end. But either way she gives great advices on drinking milk 😜 and has great fashion posters for Dior too. So … maybe the job sometimes changes you? If she wanted to become a university professor why didn’t she?
In interviews sometimes she sounds like she is trying too hard to be generic, iconic, and loses on ingenuity and I suspect her of hypocrisy. But it’s also true I don’t read much of other actresses’ interviews anyway so gossiping her is also her success.

They were stocking up because they liked the “sponge” and weren’t going to be able to purchase it anymore.

It’s supposed to be funny because the limit of their favorite contraception caused them to be pickier when looking for a sexual encounter.

One of the themes of Seinfeld is that the characters are self centered and selfish.

Elaine sees men as worthy to sleep with based on how much contraception she has, not on any emotional attachment or feelings.

Thanks. 🙂 I understand all that. I just thought it was odd that they were stocking up on contraception that was discontinued because it didn’t work!

The “Today” sponge wasn’t discontinued because it didn’t work. It was discontinued because it was linked to toxic shock syndrome (which basically happens whenever anything blocks off your cervix too well for hours) and because there were problems with its manufacturing process that were hard to resolve.

Two words, Maxine Peake. Her versatility and northernness make her a winner for me.

Okay, thank you. But I still don’t see why anyone would want to use something known to cause toxic shock. I guess we’re supposed to overlook it in the name of comedy.

Seinfeld is the science of life! Of course it’s important. You learn about everything there.
Oh, I’ve seen every episode of Seinfeld. I think Jerry is the epitome of observational humor. I didn’t even find the characters all that unsympathetic, just real.
