  1. Do the roman catholic proved that they are only obeyed what jesus christ command?
  2. Do the other religious group that are not obeying the commandment of jesus christ of his gospel, can they have avail the promises of jesus christ to have an everlasting life

The Catholic Church is the ONLY church to have the fullness of truth. Other churches have bits and pieces, but are incomplete because they are not the church that Jesus started.

I agree, the Catholic church is the one and only handed to peter right in the bible to build his church on. No other church can trace their family tree back to Jesus but the Catholic church. Not to mention the first reformation or should I say heresy< was the Lutherans in the 1600s. Lets give Jesus some credit…do we truly believe he waited 1,600 years to institute the right church? He died on the cross, resurrected, then left us wandering aimlessly till the lutherans came along afetr nearly two thousand years? I dont think so. He had our instruction and guidance set in place before he even died. He did that through peter and its called the Catholic church.

  1. YES
  2. YES, in some cases, for a more complete explanation see Lumen Gentium

  1. Read any book by the Early Church Fathers: Justin Martyr, Ignatius of Antioch, Ireneas, Clement of Rome. They lived in the first couple centuries after Jesus. They were all Catholic and believed as we do today.
  2. We believe that some non-Catholics can be saved if they are unaware that the Catholic Church holds all of revealed truth.

False choice, since Lutherans don’t believe that either. Else, why would we accept the early councils and the Creeds?

So other Christians who don’t believe that RCC is the only church with the truth are going to hell?

That’s not what the poster was saying. The poster was saying that one who knows the Catholic Church to be Christ’s one Church and that she holds the fullness of truth, but nonetheless rejects her, commits a mortal sin, which continued unrepentant, would lead to death. Whereas, one who does not know and understand this is not living in mortal sin by being, say, Methodist. This has to do with the fact that in Catholic understanding, mortal sin requires not only grave matter but full knowledge and complete consent. The larger concept is that, to whom much is given, much is required. Hope this helps.

Very much so. Thanks.

Yes, thank you, SonofMonica. Our Christian brothers and sisters of other communities are part of God’s family and receive the Spirit, but are imperfectly joined to Christ. How much God holds them resposible for that (for beliefs they may have unquestioningly inherited or for being influenced by other people) is variable and up to God.

Gem,
I am not offended by this. Would you be offended if I said the same thing in reverse? Or are we willing (while dialogue continues) to mutually view each other’s tradition as truth mixed with error, yet pray God overlooks said errors to the salvation of the other?

John 3:16-18 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
