Thank you for your understanding. Now when I am presented with something that is said here and I don’t understand it or I want to find out what it means, I look it up, try to see the other side of what ever it is and come to my conclusion on it. Almost everything I have been told her I have looked up. Some I agree with and others I don’t but I do look then up.
I want to commend you for this revkev. I wish all our separated brethren had this degree of intellectualy curiosity and integrity.

God has done tramendous things in my life and I have to say that I feel closer to him now and its a feeling I never got as a Catholic. So God works in his own way. If I wasn't feeling him as a Catholic then he pput me in a place where I do feel close to him and that is what God wants from us, to be close to him.
Have you ever considered that He wants to bring you full circle?

No, Tweety does work in RCIA but with the permission of the priest and she has said, consistently, that while she does not ‘personally’ believe in some teachings that when she is teaching she does give her students the ‘Catholic position.’
If I’m reading this correctly, Tweenmom has no business teaching RCIA at all.

I would either go to confession or as I do now don’t go.
I retracted my previous post because I do not have enough information to warrant my previous response. So I’m gathering the information straight from the horses mouth before I state the previous… confused yet?😛

Tweetymom,
Do you teach RCIA?

James 5:16 he is talking about if you sinned against someone you are to ask for their forgiveness.
Can you please explain how you get this? I don’t see that the offended person is necessarily present at all.

I agree that we should confess our sins to those we offend, and ask forgiveness. But in James, the Apostle directs that the elders should be summoned, and that the prayer of the righteous will heal.

I just did. I also know that according to her own admission she is a “heretic” by definition. To willfully reject the teachings of the Catholic Church, claim to be a Catholic in a sad round about way and then actually teach Catholics is absolutely scandalous. I also noticed her age.

If you know anything about that generation of Catholics, they are now referred to by many that I know as “the lost generation”. I don’t mean that they are lost as in going to hell but rather seriously confused. I was told that by several priests, DREs, seminarians and other leaders of faith formation/education while I was considering returning to the Catholic Church. This was an important aspect of my conversion because it explained why I didn’t believe Catholics knew or cared about their own Church’s teaching [speaking as someone that wasn’t convinced at the time, late 2006/ early 2007]. I know to many in that age group as well, including my own family members, that are most likely the reason for the priest scandals because they refused to listen to those that turned to them in their time of need. The reason I say this is because of the way that Catholic generation in my family and around me treated me. My pastor explained it as well. The bishops tell the story clearly as well as the apologists if you take the time to actually listen to what they say. Most of the “defrocked” priests and deacons are from that generation, after the heresy of the “Spirit of Vatican II” was propagated. I love mostly old people from Protestant faiths because they actually stick to what they believe and seem to avoid things that cause scandal. Our Catholics from that generation seem to embrace heresy and scandal. Not true for everyone obviously, but my experience as a young Catholic growing up was very difficult and ultimately caused me to stumble right out of the Church in a state of real confusion… I didn’t trust anyone that I couldn’t nail down what they actually believed and if it contradicted scripture I ran from them. That includes all the various Protestant denominations as well.

Obviously, confession to a priest is not an option , need, or desire to you since you are not Orthodox or Catholic.

Are you saying that*** IF ***you were Orthodox or Catholic, you would need to make a decision about whether or not there is a need to confess mortal sins to a priest?

Thanks.
:clapping::clapping: You got it. I do go to Catholic Church and i have not been to confession since I was 11. I go directly to God for 60 years, and He forgives me person to person

I glad your eyes are opened are opened. Who else would you have to critize if not for me. I considerate it a blessing. God Bless you as you continue to critize.

Back to people forming people in the Catholic faith they do not believe in, and cannot articulate anything here on CAF…

I was one of those who worked behind the scenes…in a charitable way, to ensure proper faith formation with other members of our church. In my former diocese, it was all about the Generic Christ – an arbitrated Christ defined by however the group defined Him, the whittling of the hierarchy, and kids loosing their faith in God having been in Catholic schools. A priest said it was better to put them in public school and teach them yourself with other Catholics than put them in Catholic schools.

If I were in the parish she works in, I would actively work to have her replaced.

So yes, we need to pray very much for TweetyMom…the RCIA year has ended.
Thank you very much too. If you didn’t have me to critize you wouldn’t have anything to do

Tweety,

Your answers don’t seem to communicate … we are not the same…Catholic worship is very different from a fundamentalist service.

I have gone to fundamentalists’ services, they are good, but they are lacking so much that before they end, I need to go the sacraments as soon as I can.

I would say that you are denying yourself Manna from Heaven.
I am aware of both services and thank you.

Puh-leeze! You sound like some of our mormon posters. Like we sit around waiting for them to say something stupid so that we can jump on them. Your contention that you “teach RCIA” is specious, if it is true, then you have no business as a non-Catholic expounding on any doctrine taught by the Catholic Church. If you are not in full agreement with ALL the doctrines and practices taught by the Church then you can not give any kind of valid spiritual instruction to new Catholics. Would I as a Catholic be allowed to teach in a Baptist sunday school? I think not. When my wife was going through RCIA, a Deacon’s wife was teaching about confession. She stated to the class that she “had trouble with Confession” and “confessed as little as possible”. Well, I had to reteach my spouse the whole reasoning and rationale and efficacy of confession, simply to undo the damage caused by that woman’s poor catechesis. Those who teach others must be strong in the Faith, otherwise they cause confusion and destruction.

confessing it to God because you 2 are gathered in his name and being that you confessed a sin to your friend wouldn’t that make your friend a represntative of Christ?
Not as it is in the sacramental sense, but yes. We can all be “Christ” to one another, but some are specially called to the ministry of reconciliation.
James 5:16 If you sinned against someone tell (confess) him your sin and ask for his forgiveness. Pray for eachother so you might not sin again. If you are a rightous preson on who believe in God and tryes to do what is right your prayers have meaning to God.
All these things are true, of course. But why does the Apostle tell them to call for the elders?
When you confess to a preson you are asking for his/her forgiveness. If you have not done anyone wrong but have sinned then you can go to God and ask for his forgiveness.
I agree that confessing to a person is asking for their forgiveness, but your premise is wrong. whenever anyone sins, it affects the whole Body. To say that sin does no wrong to others is to contradict the scriptures.

Tweety,

So what do you teach??? Maybe that is a better approach to get a better sense of what you do believe as you have been here for several months…and I read basically, ‘just the same’…‘go figure’… etc.
I teach nothing for or against the CC. I teach a class on what a personal ministry is and how to aquire one. Things to do in and out of Church and also prayer life. With the blessing of my Priest and he knows me and what I believe in, I never stray from my teaching, neither yea or nay about anything that is contrary to Catholic teaching. I also help with the after school program in our school. Reading, helping kids with their homework. Also help in the cafeteria with their school lunches.

Sorry I do not meet your standards and I am glad you are not God. But God Bless you as you continue on your journey with Him.

Oh and 1 more thing hubby and I do with the blessing of our Priest, we provide transportantion for elderly people who can’t drive and need rides to Dr. appointments, And also do shopping for many house bound. We do this all in the name of Jesus .

Like I said sorry I do not fit your standards of what a Christian should be.

Yes indeed and I just wrote a full explanation of what I do.

Hi TweetyMom,

I got back and decided to draw on St. Hilary as well as give you former post reference of St Justin the Martyr…have you taken the time to read them…as they are ancient writings that reflect the church’s teachings today.
I am sure others will appreciate your efforts. Tweety has no use for anything that is not in the Bible.
