I suggest it would not be to the best interest of both parties (the parish and her) to allow the situation to continue. One may be able to give an impartial teaching but unconciously one’s unbelief may show in body language and nuance, like one can be cynical about the sunject. Normally these can be picked out by the students and I don’t think that is good for the objective of the RCIA. Anyway, I have yet to see a self-declared unbeliever teaches in the RCIA.

Everything my hubby and I do is free to the Parish. I am a believer in Christ. I am not by any means Joan of Ark but you must have the bonfire going, cause i can smell it. Oh oops occasionally we do get a free bologna sandwich and a bottle of water.

Well, I had to reteach my spouse the whole reasoning and rationale and efficacy of confession, simply to undo the damage caused by that woman’s poor catechesis. Those who teach others must be strong in the Faith, otherwise they cause confusion and destruction.

In and of themselves, your efforts are to be commended. But, as I said before, no one who is not in complete accord with the teachings,doctrines and practices of the Catholic Church should have anything to do with the spiritual formation of new or uncatechised Catholics. Full stop. This includes shaky priests, swamis,gurus, dissident “Sisters”, and non-practicing “Catholics.”

What you are doing is not “free to the Parish.” It, in fact, is very costly in the most precious of assets. What is unbelievable to me, is the fact that a Priest allows this to occur. He sounds like a very “enlightened” sort. My prayers are with your Parish.

This so-called “enlightenment” is why the Church is in the fix that it is in today. A gradual and insidious reduction of standards, a gradual and insidious dilution of doctrine, and gradual and insidious infiltration of protestantism and an indifference by the faithful to the gradual destruction of the Church. The acceptance by a priest of a non-believer in the RCIA program of his parish is merely an illustration of how far the disease has progressed. False “ecumenism” abounds. True ecumenism means teaching the ignorant the basic Truths of the Catholic faith, not giving them the weak beer of “Catho-protestantism.”
As to the fire, that venerable custom has fallen (sadly) out of favor, so protestant martyrdom does not await you there.

I admire your strong, conservative faith Hose. But, in fact, we may be a dwindling bred. I will pray for Tweety and her Parish but I hope she is not the camels nose under the tent. I have faith in our Lord Who told us the “gates of hell will not prevail against His Church.” I was confirmed this Easter and was told that I would have to hit the ground running because my faith would be attacked on a regular basis. I just did not know that “regular basis” meant several times a week. It started with my Baptist relatives and continues in some form, frequently. What shocks me is the participation of the Priest and Religious at her Parish. It is very disappointing. Oh, for my Protestant days when I only got in trouble for suggesting the pitch-in after service meal was too heavy on garlic. PRAY!

Her faith sharing has nothing to do with teaching ecclesiology and doctrine, and incorporating people into the church. She is not catechizing.

I’m 35 but everybody always thinks I’m 45 because I’m 6’5" and lost most of my hair 😦 And I’m a throw-back on just about everything, hate most new stuff lol…

We all admire Tweety’s works of mercy. But…If I held Tweets beliefs about the CC (don’t believe in the Sacraments; don’t believe in Real Presence; veneration of Mary; communion of Saints)…there would be skid marks down the aisle on my way to the nearest Protestant Church. (Well, it may take awhile to find one that matched my beliefs and all)

Very true. I have a son older than you,and a granddaughter 35 and grandson 31 and 4 great grandkids from 12-4. Hubby has 4 kids , 10 grandkids31-22 and 6 greats 15-3. so when we get together full house. My oldest son passed away 10 years ago at age 45.So yep my body is old.

Well see I was sort of raised Catholic. But became Protestant , but now that I remarried and hubby is Cradel Catholic and I go to church and get involved because I want to worship God with my husband.

You are correct. What the problem is is that you have been allowed close proximity with those who are still learning. In them the Force is not yet strong and they may still retain vestiges of the Dark Side. (sorry, couldn’t resist) Your priest is who is to blame for that. I can only hope that before you die (may you enjoy long life) you will remember all those sins that you did not believe in confessing.
