God is love and we all love God. If we love God we can’t be wrong.
It takes more than love of God for salvation. Salvation is a continuing process. You can love God sincerely, but without following his commandments of the Bible and interpretations as handed down by holy traditions of the apostles (yes, not sola scriptura), your salvation is not assured. We should know because we gave you your Bible (that’s right, the Catholics). Martin Luther, about 500 years ago decided he did not like it and started adding and chopping. That is your bible. Ours is still intact. Are you going to argue that for 1,500 years, there was no valid Church started by Jesus? Also, where did ML receive his epiphany as to what was included and excluded in your bible? Your answer can only be the traditions of men unless he had a vision. Worse yet, was it his own personal opinion? Try reading the early Church fathers and yes the word Catholic was mentioned first in the early 300’s AD. I don’t think you want to get into this because there are a lot of minds brighter than mine that can take you to the woodshed on this.

1 Corinthians 11:27
1 Corinthians 11:26-28, “For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are annoouncing the Lord’s death until he comes again. So if anyone eats this bread and drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily, that preson is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. This is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking from the cup.”

I see nothing that says its for Catholics only.

Know the scripture quite well. Does it say you are unworthy if your not Catholic. Think not.
You are a very sinful and gravely disrespectful woman. May God have mercy on you… and mine as well for felling such animosity towards you even though I do not know you. Your priest disturbs me that he had allowed you to do what you are currently doing.

I find it sad that you would desecrate the Lord by your lack of respect for His real presence in the Blessed Sacrament of Holy Communion. I dare not ask what someone like you believes about moral issues. Your example is quite …I can not find the proper words that would come across charitable.

Not believing in the real presence of Christ or accepting the teachings of the Church is grave matter and someone who does not believe scandalizes the entire Church of believers, creates a great offense to our Lord and just on the level of human behavior is not beyond lying to anyone about anything so long as it makes them feel good. You do not have a Catholic conscience and therefore are not an authority on the matter. You, out of everyone, should be counseling her not to receive a bread and wine that is obvious an idol to Catholics if you view it as not being the real body and blood of Christ. Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ.

Thank you for your judgement of me. I really do not care if you like me or not, I did not desecrate the Lord and I do have respect for His presence. How did I say I didn;'t? I said nowhere in Scripture where it says that only Catholics can have communion. If you can show me in the Bible where it says that then I will

Now you are clearly dissenting against the teachings of the Church on the matter of faith and morals. To dissent against the authority of the Church you are still committing a grave sin, even if you are ignorant of it. I pray that you are speaking from ignorance or some sort of mental impediment. Because if you aren’t you have serious problems to deal with on your final breath, and since you seem to refuse to participate in the sacrament of confession you have to make a perfect act of contrition before you die.

No one is passing judgment upon your eternal soul. But you would love for that to occur, wouldn’t you. That way you could feel so much like a martyr, even though you’re not. What you are excusing is deeply offensive. Your lack of respect for Catholic teachings is similar to that politician that made the 'colorful joke" about a rape victim… might as well sit back and enjoy it. It was insensitive towards rape victims. What do you think the Jews would think if I put on an act like I was Jewish and then they found out I am actually Christian? If I fully participated in their services and traditions as if I were one of them. How do you think a bible only Christian would feel if I participated in a bible church so long and never let them in on the fact that I seek intercessory prayer from dead people when they discover it? Do you think that the majority of non-Catholic Christians would appreciate my stand on fully participating in their worship services if I wasn’t one of them? I know that we would have run you off in our previous faith formation in the church of Christ. We didn’t even allow women to teach men. In fact, women were to be silent in the worship. My point is "why do you persecute Christ so openly without shame?🤷

Maybe I am mental who knows? I do not want to be a martyr , thats your perception. I go to any Bible church and we are always invited to partake in Communion. Yes I do know they would welcome all to the table of Christ. You are full blow away by untruths and accusing me of untruths.

I do not nor ever have persecuted Christ and it is very rude of you to say this. In all the Churches I have ever attended in my lifetime, I have never seen anyone turned away from the Table of Christ.

How in theworld did I do all of this just by saying Catholic aint in theBible? I think you need a little help in prayer for yourself

I don’t believe I said that loving God is all you need to do for your salvation. Yes salvation is a continuing process. Now you are to follow his commandnents but I don’t see anywhere were it says you have to follow the interpretations as handed down by holy tradition insures you salvation. The CC put together Scripture they wanted to be in the Bible. Now you say that M. L. started adding and chopping fair enough but I beg to differ with you on yours is still intact. Here is a break down on the Bible from some research I have done.
Eastern Orthodox OT-51 books. Catholic OT-46 books. Protestant OT-39 books. Jewish-37 books. From the Eastern Orthodox Bible the CC is missing 5 books, Protestants missing 12 books and the Jewish missing14 books.
What about those 5 missing books that are not in the Catholic Bible?
Universal (Catholic is another name) definition for universal is: Adapted or adjustable to meet varied requirements. Including or covering all or a whole without limit or exception. Comprehensively broad and versatile. Implies reference to each individual without exception in the category considered. Catholic-universal. broad in sympathies, tasts, or interests. of, relating to, or forming the church universal. (Late Latin-cahtolicus, form Greek katholikos “universal, general” from katholou., “in general” from kata “by” + holos “whole”) A preson belonging to the universal Christian church. a member of a Catholic church.
Woodshed 😃

We had this discussion on another thread but it was off the topic so I wanted to continue the discussion.
The question is who has the authority to forgive sin?
John 20:23 has been brought up
“If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you refuse to forgive them, they are unforgiven.”
What does this mean to you and why?
And if today someone were to establish religiously himself/herself and claim affiliation to Christ (either by way of unverified historical links or weird ‘revelations’) and then condemn you, are you therefore condemned of your sins? Surely not.

Who is the ‘you’ here?

Obviously, it is NOT just anyone who claims affiliation. This ‘you’ refers to the those who belong to Him because they are ONE with Jesus and therefore ONE with God.

And because they are ONE with God, their judgement is true.

Do not be deceived, no man who claims to be greater than the Son can ever have a part in the kingdom.

Not believing in the real presence of Christ or accepting the teachings of the Church is grave matter and someone who does not believe scandalizes the entire Church of believers, creates a great offense to our Lord and just on the level of human behavior is not beyond lying to anyone about anything so long as it makes them feel good. You have quoted from 1 Corinthians one verse to fit your argument and I supplied you with the verse before and after the one you used that clearly states that you are announcing the Lord’s death and that you should examine yourself first. This has nothing to do with the presents of Christ in the Eucharist. This is Scripture which does not state that you are scandalizing the entire church of believers and creating a great offense to our Lord. Now you are accusing me or us that we would lie to anyone about anything so long as it makes them feel good. I take offence to that and you should be ashamed of your self for insinuating such a thing when you have not idea of what kind of person I am. You say that I do not have a Catholic conscience and therefore are not an authority on the matter. I never claimed to have authority on this matter but I do have a conscience which is the Holy Spirit and I will not be like you and judge someone because they don’t see things the way I do. I will never tell her not to receive the body and blood of Christ, that is meant for all believers and not just a select few. I’m sorry that you feel that receiving the bread and wine is a idol to you and to the Catholics, you should be ashamed for saying that. There is another thing I noticed here and that is the word ignorance is used alot. Well it goes both ways you are ignorante of us and our beliefs. Now you say we or I am ignorante of Christ which I also take offence to that. I am far from being ignorante of Christ. Its not being ignorante of Christ just because I don’t see things the same way you see them.

Read though the posts. I have already explained this.

I used the word ignorant, meaning when we have full mental capacity to learn and expand our way of thinking in learning what is God’s will for us, we should be open to doing so. We have theologians who explain modern problems and help us see where they fit in with the Word of God. Stem cell research is a study that has moral and ethical issues, and it is condemned, and our Church has helped us to do find our stand on it.

Do you know what caused the Spanish Inquistion? Sacrilege. The Epistles say not to receive the Eucharist unworthily—without belief. And it is said in our missalettes that the Eucharist is for those who do believe that it is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

If I go to a Baptist church, I obey your rules. And the Eucharist is the summit of our faith and to receive it without belief or taken casually by a Catholic are both grave sins.

BTW, I received a paper where our collection money goes on Sundays…much of it goes to non-Catholic organizations needing help in the community. We Catholics have our outreach and missions and charity as well.

Tweety is not catechizing but simply sharing her works of mercy. I am sure she must inform people she is married to a Catholic man but is not one herself. Because of her involvement in the Catholic parish helping many, the pastor had her come to visit RCIA to share as a means of acknowledging her marriage to her husband and her work she has done for the Catholics there.

But this thread has over and over shown the difference between Catholics and protestants when it comes to worship and the sacraments. If a Catholic receives the Eucharist but later commits a grave sin, that person must go to the priest for sacramental confession before returning to the Eucharist.

The Eucharistic liturgy is not the same as a communion service. The consecrated host and wine are not dumped in garbage cans or the linens casually treated. The host is sacred, it is the Body of Christ. One must go through initiation of the Church to receive.

To receive the Eucharist inspite of the church’s instructions at Mass, is not only a sacrilege but an abuse against the integrity of faith held by the faithful. To oppose our beliefs and practices in our church of what we hold sacred is very, very wrong.

The Eucharist is the summit of our faith. Tweety, please respect our laws governing reception of the Eucharist. Please.

Like I said before, one can have differences between the two congregations and move on. But when one is agitated about going to confession to a priest where it becomes a fixation, and the person has a Catholic baptism, and the person considers our standards not worthy to be respected in our own churches, then I do think there is contrary spirit at work that goes beyond the person.

So how far do we go on CAF in a situation like this?

To justify someone going against Church law regarding the reception of the Eucharist-- the summit of our faith-- is very wrong. This behavior is nothing to argue and dispute. It is simply very wrong.

This is a sacrilege and abuse to the believers.

Is your priest aware that you taking communion? If so he’s in grave error!

I respect all religions. I respect Protestants who come on CAF and tell us how wrong we are. I respect RevKev. Most of them are on fire for the Lord. They think we are wrong and I’m OK with that and consider their opinions. What I cannot respect is someone who mocks the CC and intentionally creates scandal. They are mocking God and they should be intelligent enough to figure it out. I wonder why these people never try this sacrilege in a Mosque. If you really want to make a point, give it a try. Don’t mock my Church and my God then ask, " where is that in the bible."
