Who Can Hear Our Thoughts and Prayers?

I know that our one true God, the Holy Trinity, can hear our thoughts and prayers and knows every atom in our bodies and every spark of electricity in our brains. Awesome! Ok, so, if we’re praying for the intercession of the saints in heaven, can they hear our unspoken thoughts? I assume so, but I’m not sure. And I’m not sure because, while I am not implying ANY similarity between the following two camps, I have heard that the demons cannot hear our thoughts, that they can only observe our actions closely and make inferences about us. I usually pray silently anyways and I feel super awkward praying out loud (I’m working on it) so it would be good to get this clear. Not that I should fear the demons anyways, but you get the idea. Thanks everybody! 🙂

Those in Heaven can hear prayers addressed to them. Not through their own power but through the power of God who permits it.
If we pray to the angels, they can hear us through the power of God.
Any angel who is in our near vicinity can hear and see what we say and do, just because they are physically close to us.
I think neither saints nor angels can listen in on our thoughts unless God permits it.

If we, with our earthly technology, can send/receive vast amounts of data through phones/cables/satellites/fiber optic networks, then how much more can the power of God do in Heaven? I would never underestimate God.

I have heard that the demons cannot hear our thoughts, that they can only observe our actions closely and make inferences about us.
Every exorcist will tell you this is true. Rest easy that demons cannot read your thoughts.

I love God. He is beautiful, and I praise and thank Him for this intimacy of thought and prayer shared privately between Him and us humans.

This is interesting and confusing. When under a demonic attack my prayers outloud and silent were scrambled or cut short. It would not allow me to finish the last line of the Our Father, “deliver us from evil.” If it could not read my thoughts, my silent prayers, how could that have happened. The thing is, this lasted for minutes so I know it wasn’t a fluke. Maybe God just allowed it to teach me a good lesson, I’m still baffled by it all.

Have you spoken with a Priest about this attack.
Every exorcist says demons cannot read our thoughts, nor can angels or saints.

I wonder if the overall influence of Satan’s oppression on a person has a ripple effect into the mind. In a regular work of manipulation a poisoner cannot touch our insides with his hands, and so the criminal uses poison to spill his malice into the parts of a person where the criminal’s hands cannot go, short of evisceration, which is rare.

I talked to a Priest some when I first went to see him about starting my annulment process and about my wife wanting to enter the Church. I spoke of the attack, the whole reason for coming back to Church. and he believed it to the fullest and has witnessed miracles. He was very understanding and helpful.

I don’t think any human can fully understand what an angel is capable of doing. I know I’m not alone with what happened, while channel surfing one night I came across a show interviewing a lady about her attack, it was very similar about her trying to pray. Her attack even ended just like mine with Psalm 23 coming out of her mouth with no previous knowledge of that Psalm.

I know there are many cases of demons putting evil thoughts, poison, into people’s heads. If they can put in what can not be heard physically then it only seems natural they can take out as well.

A demon could not take out of our minds something that they do not know is there. But their oppressive influence may have been what caused your difficulty in concluding The Lord’s Prayer. Or, of course, it could just be the normal nature of the brain, if you feel stressed or tired or sad.

I was stressed as can be but had no problem talking to my wife, so my brain was fine, it was just prayers that were about impossible.

I think I’m going to start another thread later to see if other survivors had similar experiences.

If you believe this truly happened , then a priest should be investigating further.

CAF does not allow us to discuss private revelations or issues like yours. What you need is to discuss blessing yourselves and home, and possible deliverance prayer with your Priest.

Demons, like angels, are highly intelligent and have perfect memories. They can observe us and learn our habits, then deduce things about us. The demon may have just accurately guessed you were praying the Our Father and how long it takes you to reach the last line.
Or you could have been sub-vocalizing without being aware of it.

I can tell you with all certainty prayer was not my habit, I was very secular at the time. I had been away from the Church for over 25 years, and actually never prayed before that except in Church. My prayers that night were random, it would be impossible to guess which prayer and get the timing correct. The desperation of the situation was total chaos. The Our Father wasn’t the only prayer cut short that night, it was just the most remembered one after I settled down and contemplated what occurred over the next few days. One of these days I’m going to discuss all this with a priest who has much experience in such matters.

The Priest at the Church I ended up at and talked to did not ever mention investigating, nor did a friend of the family that is a Priest. Maybe if the demonic activity would have been like that night on a consistent basis things would have been different and we would have needed to get a Priest here in our home.

And discussing the event is not private revelation, there is no theological message I’m trying to get others to believe. I’m only discussing my experience to share my perspective.

The morning after the attack we did throw away anything and everything that was not holy. Now we have many blessed objects, (holy water, Crucifixes, dirt from Holy Land, a relic of a Saint, etc.). But you are right that we still need a Priest to come bless it.

What’s important with regard to accepting that God can hear you IF e.g., you speak to Him - is to become in the habit of Speaking to Him in Faith; if even in a somewhat casual yet not rude or cavalier manner… You just may Hear from Him in some manner…

It woukd be the same as if I discussed seeing Jesus. We are not permitted to on CAF.

Have you had a Priest bless your home since?

Even if the Saints hear my thoughts addressed to them, I’d want to verbalize them, because it’s more personal and more like a real life exchange.
