You know, Jimmy. You are right. You can have the high ground, and the low ground. I can see there can be no discussion here.

Although our Code says to the contrary, let the pastor have him enter your Eastern rite.

Yes, there are 22 churches, not 22 rites. You can have the whole argument.

I never have seen such a threatened group of people. No wonder we have never made any headway in discussions with Easterns on union with the Holy See. They will never agree to the primacy of Peter, nor with the Filoque, or their rituals, or anything for that matter. It is a totally useless exercise.
What, can’t you answer the post? Are you threatened by the fact that the Vatican calls us a church? Are you threatened by the fact that we hold to our own traditions, spirituality and liturgy? Should we just start using the Roman liturgy and abandon our own tradition? I guess that is what you want. The Latin liturgy and way of life is superior to all after all, right?

Your code says nothing to the contrary. The Eastern Code is just as much approved by Rome yet it says perfectly clearly that if he has permission from the two local bishops then he can switch churches.

There will never be agreement with the Eastern Orthodox because you simply expect the east to submit to your perspective. You expect them to add the filioque to the creed, make the bishop of Rome the only bishop in the Church(even though Rome would reject your proposition) and abandon our eastern liturgies. Rome doesn’t even ask of the east what you ask.
