When His Holiness comes to the USA next year he will celebrate a number of public Masses.

Does B16, Msgr. Marini, or the local bishop decide if the Mass will be TLM, NO, vernacular or Latin?

Pope Benedict.

Msgr. Marini will be in charge of the logisitics of the liturgy.

The local bishop will provide whatever assistance His Holiness or Msgr Marini will require

Archbishop Marini is no longer the Papal MC. He is now serving as President of the Pontifical Commission on Eucharistic Conferences. I think he is one of the latest casualties in the Holy Father’s efforts to clean the liturgical house. There is an article about the new Papal MC in the online magazine, chiesa.espresso.repubblica.it/?eng=y and go to the archives. You’ll see the story.

The new papal MC is also named Marini … no relation.

Thanks, Joannm. Unlike my namesake, I am not infallible on things. I think I’m getting old, or just tired. I’m in my hotel room in beautiful downtown San Antonio. My eyes are probably blurry.

Why are you wasting your time there. Come to Austin for the 8th.🙂

Too late. I’m already in Laredo. I just arrived in time for the 12:05 Mass. I’ll be going again this evening for the vigil. By the way, I spent many an 8th of December in Austin (I’m a Longhorn:D ), specifically St. Austin’s on Guadalupe. Oh do I miss that pariish (at least the way it was during 88 to 98). I learned a lot about liturgy there.

I will go back in January when they celebrate their 100th anniversary.

By the way, does anyone know what’s cheaper to get to (and find lodgings) DC or NYC? I’m anxious to go because I would love to be physically present for the Papal Mass, as opposed to watching it on TV.
