Besides Primitive Baptist, what other Christians don’t believe in Hell and /or believe that Satan is still in Heaven.

Thanks!

I recall the story of a young man who told Padre Pio that he didn’t believe in hell. Padre Pio told him not to worry; he would when he got there. 😉

Trinitarian and Unitarian Universalists (although many do not consider the latter Christian, and in some cases they have a definite point).

Universalism is not too common these days.

I’ve struggled with Hell’s existence to some extent,
but then I read a quote from C.S. Lewis–
“The gates of Hell are locked from the inside”.

I love that quote from Lewis. Similar to Dante when he describes the gates of hell being open yet no one leaves.

Well, many of my Catholic friends don’t believe there is a hell. They(and I) believe we create our own hells.

Then neither they nor you are Catholic:confused:

I believe in God and I believe what He teaches. He says there is a hell, so there is one. I trust in Him more than I trust in myself. I’m not going to waste my time with false secular teaching of no hell or “we create our own hell” just so I can justify sinning against the Lord.

Religious Science doesn’t believe hell exists as a place, but it isn’t Christian either…

The thread is not about individual who does not believe what his faith is teaching. We are talking about religion groups.

(please take this for what it states with no discussion of whos there yet)
😃

How about the group from there? they dont see it as hell but perfect.

🤷

I don’t think that group could see anything perfect there otherwise we don’t call it Hell either for them feeling being punished and grinding their teeth to eternity. They know it is Hell as clear as it is. As a matter of fact, they know Hell better than we do.

I’m pretty confident that Primitive Baptists (at least what I know as Primitive Baptists) believe no such thing.

ah yes, but I think their devotion to the place blinds them

🙂 dont forget misery loves company.

They are lack of God’s love but they are neither blind nor unaware of the kind of punishment they have. They couldn’t find the meaning of “love” but the misery of the reality of Hell.

Many don’t believe in hell, including me. There are JW’s and SDA’s who believe in annihilation. Then, for ancient sources, you should read Origen, St. Basil and others. Satan is not in heaven still. He roams around like a lion on the earth seeking whom he may devour.

Peace…

Pio said this?
I heard it someplace. I don’t have a source.

However Padre Pio tended to be rather blunt. I heard the composer Gian-Carlo Menotti describe visiting Padre Pio with a lady friend. She went to confession to him and came out crying; he had slapped her face. Menotti didn’t know why, but didn’t go to confession.
