Is it the father who forgives through Jesus or is it just the son (Jesus) or is it the Holy Spirit because at one point when the priest is absolving you doesn’t he say something like “sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins?”

AFAIK, the whole Trinity forgives sins through the priest

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church;
Only God forgives sin

1441 Only God forgives sins.39 Since he is the Son of God, Jesus says of himself, “The Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins” and exercises this divine power: "Your sins are forgiven."40 Further, by virtue of his divine authority he gives this power to men to exercise in his name.41

God, Three in One, forgives our sins. Where One is, so are the Others. Here are the words of absolution…all Three are mentioned:

God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.

Thanks for the CCC reference; I missed that one along the way. Good question OP.

Our sins are forgiven through the blood atonement of Jesus Christ, the Bible says He’s our advocate.
