I am asking you to back up you’re statements, so why don’t you?

Yes it does sound familiar but it does not say he is in the bread now does it?
Back up your statement.
Dude…you are off on a tangent. I was responding back to your statement that Jesus never taught us who to worship. It’s that statement that I was addressing. I’m not going to get into it with you about our differences in communion as I’ve already provided you bible verses on another thread…those which you have tossed aside. And as I’ve stated…we will not agree on this. What I was responding back to was your very statement. do you not even remember what you wrote?

The popular answers I’ve heard are Constantine the Great and St. Paul.

Because what you are quoting back to me is different then what I’m actually saying.🤷 You seem to have a VERY big chip on your shoulder regarding Catholics so I’m leaving it here.

The Good Apostle’s founded the Catholic Church. Peter and Paul are referred to in letters by Clement of Rome and Ignatius of Antioch by 96. St Ignatius was Bishop by 69 and taught under Peter. Catholic Church also appears in St Ignatius’s letters which are still in Vatican City.

The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus personally appointed Peter as leader of the Church and in its dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium makes a clear distinction between apostles and bishops presenting the latter as the successors of the former, with the Pope as successor of Peter in that he is head of the bishops as Peter was head of the apostles

While a couple years could be debated, it really is splitting hairs.

Well lets see, there is Peter that the Catholics believe started the CC when Jesus said to him “upon this rock I will build my church.” But there is no mention of the word Catholic here. I believe it was called Christianty not Catholic.
Yes. Christianity had a Pope, and Bishops, a priesthood, a Diaconate, and Holy Women. 🙂
Jesus never said he is starting the CC. Jesus only says “my church.” Kind of leaves if wide open to pick what church you believe he is talking about since he never mentions a specific church name or specific way to worship.
“This do in remembrance of Me.” (The Mass.)
Now we have Constantine who in 312-313 wanted to unite the Roman Empire under a universal church that began the RCC and established himself as the head of the Church.
Constantine was not even a Christian. Even if he thought he was the head of the Church, how does that church, headed by Constantine, have anything to do with the Catholic Church today? Where is Constantine’s successor? I find only Peter’s successor; not Constantine’s.
Then we have Theodosius who in 380 issued his edict De Fide Catolica declaring Catholic Christianty as the state religion of the Roman Empire.
If Stephen Harper were to declare the Ba’hai as the state religion of Canada, would that make Stephen Harper to be the “inventor” of the Ba’hai religion?

The Catholic Church pre-existed Theodosius by several hundred years. The fact that he made it the state religion of the Roman Empire didn’t cause him to have “invented” it.

Yes it does sound familiar but it does not say he is in the bread now does it?
“And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” - Luke 22:19-20

“Unless you eat my body and drink my blood, you shall have no life within you.” John 6:54

Exuse me for being rude but this is a silly argument.

It is the same as saying that Abraham wasn’t the Father of the chosen people because he wasn’t a Jew.

Jesus didn’t name His Church. The first “Christians” called themselves the Way. Latter people called them Christians. Those Christians were the same Church that Jesus established. That Church was called The Church because no other existed. It was reffered to as being catholic. It is one of the marks of the Church. Later because of a sad division it was necessary to give a name to distinguish it from those who seperated from us. What does matter it that the Catholic Church is the Chruch of which Jesus spoke. The History can be traced from Jesus to the present day. Jesus established a leader. It doens’t leave it wide open because there was no other Church until the reformation.

This is such a pivotal event, where Church and State were married, giving great advantage to the spread of the RCC organization across the Roman empire in it’s dying days.

For me it’s simple.

Jesus founded (or at very least said he was going to build a church)the catholic church when he told Peter that he was to build his church on him (the rock), he made Peter the first Pope by handing the keys to him and made first among equals.

Jesus founded the church, built it on Peter the rock and apostolic succession has followed.

Ok people. Here it is again. I only gave options ok. I never said I believe them. Yes one of you are correct it was called the WAY.

Sorry my name is not dude. Now I used your correct name please have the courtesy to do the same.

You are still being silly.

The Church is the same Church no matter what name. Just like Abraham is the Father of the Jews even though he was never called a Jew. The Christians of the first century eventually were called Catholics. We have existed since Pentecost. No this is not historically correct.
Now we have Constantine who in 312-313 wanted to unite the Roman Empire under a universal church that began the RCC and established himself as the head of the Church.
Since you like the name game.
The Catholic Church was not referred to as the RCC only as the Catholic Church. The term RCC is a term that is used mostly in English speaking countries. As you said to someone else,
Now I used your correct name please have the courtesy to do the same

There…better?

Non-Catholics, who founded the Catholic Church, in union with the Bishop of Rome? I am told the man’s name was not Jesus Christ. Name of the man or men that founded it and when please?

The man who started this thread is no longer participating. Need one point out that the first line is not a complete sentence? The question mark at the end indicates that the interrogative order of an English sentence has not been used. I find the use of the passive
“I am told” very strange. Who told him? Well perhaps he has been told wrong. Do we believe everything we are told?" Name of the man or men that founded it and when please?" Is this meant to be an imperative sentence? Then why the question mark was placed at the end of the phrase? How does he know it was not a woman?

good morning. i have a little question for your answer here, i’ve been reading through to see what everyone had to state and how it is in agreement with the bible. How did peter fit into the picture as the first pope as it will suggest that he first instituted the idea of celibacy, i suggest he should’ve been unmarried, but why did the bible stated in two different places something suggesting the opposite? please read 1st Corinthians 9:5 for the start. thank u

Where did you get the idea that Peter instituted the idea of celibacy? Paul was in favor of it but Peter we have no idea his opinion. This is your first post so welcome. What you have asked is off topic. I would suggest that you do a search of the site or start your own thread on the topic.

It is to soon to say that the OP is no longer participating. As for the sentence, what makes you think it is not a complete thought and even so what does it matter? His question has been asked before. Basically he is asking if Jesus did not start the Catholic Church who do you say did?

If I am not mistaken, the same guy who started the Catholic Church started the tradition of a celabate priesthood, Jesus Christ; or was he married?🤷
