Or when Jesus said, “From Abel to Zechariah” could he have been saying " A to Z" meaning all? Also there were many many cannons in use at the time of Jesus by the Jews. they were not at all in agreement. But form New testament writings is can bee determined that the Septuagint was the one used by Jesus and th Apostles as they make referrance to books found in it and not in other.
Nah, I don’t think Jesus would have meant that. He didn’t use the latin alphabet.

Yeah. We’re talking about a Greek record of what somebody said about Hebrew figures in Aramaic.

No, probably not. Aleph is the first letter, but the letter which would correspond to Z is not the last letter. And, there was no english language or alphabet at that time. Britains were speaking celtic I believe, when Jesus lived.

Yes it would have been Alpha and Omega. but I believe the principal holds.

Who gave the world the Bible?

Israel.

The scriptures have been her leading export for hundereds of years.

And “Zechariah” doesn’t begin with omega.

For what it’s worth, Wikipedia tells me that the Eastern Orthodox tradition upholds a suggestion by Origen that Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, was killed during the Massacre of the Innocents.

Precisely why Jesus would say what he said in Luke 11 and 24.

Simple not true. All the books that’s said that Jesus quoted from the Septuagint are all found in the Tanach.

The Tanakh corresponds to the old testament, but it is in the original language. The septuagint and Jesus are not mentioned in any of it. They both came at a later time in history.

It’s amazing what we debate. 2 Timothy 3:16 says “ALL Scripture is God breathed…” Who put the Bible together…God did! What men or women God used to put it together does not matter.

And the one true church everyone is talking about is not a denomination…it’s a group of believers from all over the world, all walks of life and various denominations. In John 3:16 God did not say “For God so loved the Catholics…” or “For God so loved the Protestants…” He said “For God so loved the WORLD…” which is anyone who will come to the knowledge of Christ.

Is the Qur’an God-breathed?
He said “For God so loved the WORLD…” which is anyone who will come to the knowledge of Christ.
God only loves Christians?

Both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox church leaders make the identical claim that they gave the world the Bible. If both the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches make the same claim they gave the world the Bible, why do they have different books in each of their Bibles? Whose “church authority” shall we believe? Whose tradition is the one we should follow?
In your case, I guess you should follow the the one whose old teastament agrees with what the Jews decided on around 100 AD. It seems you are already ok with the Orthodox and Catholic new testaments.

For Catholics, there are the minimum 73 books in the Roman and (other Catholic) bibles. There is no problem with more books because Rome says so.

AMEN!

Anyway, aren’t you just saying, “this debate is silly; the Protestants are right”?
