Your flagrant misinterpretation of God’s Word is weak.

He told you to do it. If you don’t like it, you can take it up with Him.
I used God’s word, So you are saying that His word is weak. I did not interpret anything, but you sure made a dogmatic assumption.

And no He did not tell me to drink His blood and eat His flesh. Care to show me where he said that, without and flagrant interpretation?

The word “λόγος” does not refer to any book, and its English translation “Word” does not, either. You have interpreted this passage, to say that it identifies the Bible with God. Your interpretation is inaccurate, invalid, and incorrect.
And no He did not tell me to drink His blood and eat His flesh. Care to show me where he said that, without and flagrant interpretation?
Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, John 6:32-58.

God’s word speaks for itself, some of us can accept that and some obviously can not, unless it benefits oneself.

Maybe as is your dogmatic assumption. Why such ire?
You would shrug off Scripture with a “maybe”?
God’s word speaks for itself, some of us can accept that and some obviously can not, unless it benefits oneself.
Even if Scripture does speak for itself, it is written in Hebrew and Greek. You do not speak Greek, so you need more guidance when working from a translation than the translation itself.

I am quite certain that the Gospel of John is written in Greek, and that your interpretation of its first sentence is far off the mark.

If you look at history you can see its the CATHLOICS CHURCH I think the split was in 1051 ad APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION started right ofter
Apostolic Succession started with Peter and the Apostles. That’s why its called the Apostolic Succession.

Is this your answer to the split or your answer to Cathloic worshiping Mary. WHO DO YOU SAY gOD GAVE The BIBLE TO, You do know the history of the bible…
From your post you know nothing about the Cathholc Church

So you opened the Bible, closed your eyes and it spoke to you out loud that the ‘Word’ in that verse was talking about the ‘Written Word’ only, then at the end it simply equated it to also mean Christ?

Where can I get my hands on such a special Bible that I never have to interpret. 😉
God’s word speaks for itself, some of us can accept that and some obviously can not, unless it benefits oneself.
You said it again. I WANT THAT BIBLE!!! 😃

Both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox church leaders make the identical claim that they gave the world the Bible. If both the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches make the same claim they gave the world the Bible, why do they have different books in each of their Bibles? Whose “church authority” shall we believe? Whose tradition is the one we should follow?
Christalone,

Follow the One that has the successors of St. Peter, the Catholic Church and no other.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and** the Word was God**.” (John 1:1)
Was that supposed to be an answer to my question in post 190? So you believe John 1:1 is speaking about the Bible? “In the beginning was the Bible, and the Bible was with God, and the Bible was God”? Is that what you think when you equate the Word of God with the Bible?
Placido said

I said
Quote: “extra Biblical” teachings"

totally two completely different things. Amazing how one merely looks at a portion of a statement twisting it to change the subject.

Sounds like the thinking problem is not in my court?!
The so called difference between “extra Biblical” and “extra Biblical teachings” is just a smokescreen.
What I am saying is this: to know what is “extra Biblical teachings” you need to know what is “Biblical teachings”. To know what is “Biblical teachings” you need to know what is the Bible - and you need tradition to tell you what is the Bible.

Dear Christalone, I have a very simple question to ask.

Let’s say some one came to you with three different books all written “Holy Bible”. One “Holy Bible” has 105 books, the other “Holy Bible” has 73 books and still another “Holy Bible” has 66 books. How are you going to know which one is the “Word of God”?

Read the 6th Chapter of John and then go to the Last Supper and read for yourself. There are many other places to read such as 1Cor 10:16, 1 Cor 11: 23-29. , 1Cor 2: 14, 3:4 There are others too and you really should study the writings of the Early Church Fathers. I thought you protestants ’ knew’ the Bible sooo much better than us Catholics!!! God Bless, Memaw

no more so than drinking blood and eating Jesus’ flesh!
Jesus said: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.” (John 6:54-55)
Now, are you saying Jesus made a weak statement that needs interpretation to be better understood … yet you are opposed to any sort of interpretation.
