Are you saying you believe all Christians go to hell?
anyone worships any human being or angel or any creation of God Almighty as diety & die without repentance will be in fire forever . Blashphemy is the most major sin & only punishment is eternal fire. If any Muslim worships Muhammed (pbuh) as diety , s/he will be in fire , too.

I guess that’s more biblical fact - there are three Greek words for hell, and they all translate differently.
Very cool, what is your point in pointing this out though? So do each of the three words represent an eternal hell to you? Or do you think they represent different places?

Do you believe hell is eternal? Do you think anyone goes to hell?

Where are Hitler and Stalin after the great day of judgment in your opinion?

Well, when you say hell, do you mean Tartarus, Gehenna, or Hades?
IIRC Hades is not truly Hell but more of a land of the dead, what is called in the bible as the bosom of Abraham. This is where Lazarus goes in the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man.
This place should now be empty since once Christ opened Heaven those here went to heaven where previously only Enoch and Elijah had been allowed (along with the good thief)

However there is some argument among theologians that Hades still exists as the place of temporary torment for purification that is normally called Purgatory.

Gehenna (the valley of Hinnon, or the Valley of the son of Hinnon) is the place that most people imagine when they think of hell. This is a place of eternal suffering.

According to many theologians (mainly protestant) Gehenna is currently empty and will not be filled until the Final Judgment after the battle of Armageddon and the Tribulation.

Satan and his angels along with souls of the evil on earth reside currently in a place called Tartarus that has been jokingly called Hell’s Vestibule. It is the place where evil is held until after the final judgment when Satan and his will be cast into gehenna (lake of fire)

Who goes to hell, as understood by many, is conditional.

By me, none!

Let me give you one verse: Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

First: …“They are all gone out of the way”…represents…“all”, meaning no, not one.
Second: …“they are together become unprofitable”… Again “all as one, together, as in one basket?
Third: …” there is none", meaning, there is one?
Fourth: …“that doeth good”, this is one that you probably wouldn’t understand because it is not seen normally as any man doing good.
Remember reading where Jesus said," there is none good", confirming it?
Fifth: …“no, not one”…meaning, not even Jesus was good.

Here’s the real mystery answered: None went to hell!

None? Yes, no one but none, meaning Jesus (as none) went to hell for all of us!

Is that not consistent with what He came to do?

Had He not come, we all would have to account for ourselves between having enough righteousness to enter heaven or not.

Jesus paid the price for our souls, so that only “none” (Jesus) laden with sin, as in “no, not one”, meaning not even Jesus was good, for we understand that He went to hell for all of us.

Had He said that He was good, rather than the Father being the only good one, Jesus would have failed His mission.

Your question than is that none went to hell!

Which if you can see it, there is no hell, for Jesus went and liberated it, opening up its gates and heavens gates for all of us.

Can you grasp the concept that everyone is your brother or sister regardless of what they believe?

Only by Jesus can that be, for He paid the price for all, giving us the responsibility of our loving our neighbor as He loved us.

The struggle is in excercising it in the midst of a hellish world, and only where by love can be perfected.

Dogma says: it’s this way or the highway, it’s heaven or hell.

Jesus say:“Love thy neighbor”.

Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That condition can only exist if: Jesus paid the price for all, unconditionally.

Blessings, AJ

Does anyone think hell is not eternal?
First Mode,
I have no idea of the intent of your question, but if you want to know the LDS or Mormon belief, based on the Bible amplified by revelation to modern prophets, then the answer is that:

If one reads Rev. 20:10-15 one finds the words “for ever and ever,” talking about Satan’s punishment for rebellion against God. Reading there, and also reading Isaiah 61:1-3 (which the Savior quoted in the Jewish synagogue) and 1 Peter 3:18-20, one can find the basis for a benevolent God who frees the captives from spirit prison or in other words, spiritual death–except for Satan and those who absolutely refuse to accept Christ’s gift of salvation that would be available to them if they would “bow the knee” and “confess” through repentance.

The LDS believe in more glories than just one place for all in heaven. It makes sense when considering many Biblical scriptures. The glory available will be based on how closely each individual has followed Christ’s teachings and become sanctified.

The LDS also believe that the spiritual torment of hell, which will seem like “forever” because a thousand years of incredible anguish in the spirit would seem like it never ends, will be what is suffered by those who have done the things John talks about in Revelation 21:8. King David will be rescued from hell along with most others who will suffer those pains in that spiritual death condition, because Christ will rescue them unless they deliberately refuse His aid and choose eternal darkness. I would think that some of the horrendous crimes against humanity done by a few men in history such as Hitler, will render them unable to be rescued by Christ.

So do you want to be eaten first?

Since I said I would provide more authoritative sources for my responses, here it is.

From the CCC:

**IV. HELL **
1033 We cannot be united with God unless we freely choose to love him. But we cannot love God if we sin gravely against him, against our neighbor or against ourselves: "He who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."612 Our Lord warns us that we shall be separated from him if we fail to meet the serious needs of the poor and the little ones who are his brethren.613 **To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God’s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called “hell.” **
1034 Jesus often speaks of “Gehenna” of “the unquenchable fire” reserved for those who to the end of their lives refuse to believe and be converted, where both soul and body can be lost.614 Jesus solemnly proclaims that he "will send his angels, and they will gather . . . all evil doers, and throw them into the furnace of fire,"615 and that he will pronounce the condemnation: "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire!"616
1035 The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, "eternal fire."617 The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
1036 The affirmations of Sacred Scripture and the teachings of the Church on the subject of hell are a call to the responsibility incumbent upon man to make use of his freedom in view of his eternal destiny. They are at the same time an urgent call to conversion: "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few."618
Since we know neither the day nor the hour, we should follow the advice of the Lord and watch constantly so that, when the single course of our earthly life is completed, we may merit to enter with him into the marriage feast and be numbered among the blessed, and not, like the wicked and slothful servants, be ordered to depart into the eternal fire, into the outer darkness where "men will weep and gnash their teeth."619

1037 God predestines no one to go to hell;620 for this, a willful turning away from God (a mortal sin) is necessary, and persistence in it until the end. In the Eucharistic liturgy and in the daily prayers of her faithful, the Church implores the mercy of God, who does not want “any to perish, but all to come to repentance”:621
Father, accept this offering
from your whole family.
Grant us your peace in this life,
save us from final damnation,
and count us among those you have chosen.622
**IV. HELL **.622

God new mankind would fail!

After all, is not free will being just like God?

That alone separates us from God, resulting in our spiritual dead condition.

God knew that!

God also knew that He would remedy that condition, by His own righteousness being granted us.

Jesus is the new Adam, new creature that all of us have access to God, not as separate dead souls, but united as one in Him, making God the only God.

The question for mankind is, in the discovering, seeking God out with whatever information is available over time and at the time.

Can we all agree that God does not limit Himself to any one religion?

We, on the other hand do limit God to others by what we think and believe.

The object: is that we can all learn to love one another despite our differences.

Blessings, AJ

I go to a Unitarian Universalist church and they say that nobody goes to Hell.

Not sure I agree.

Lots of folks think that atheism is a religion so I guess that allows me to answer the question. Hell is just make believe. No one goes there.

We’re all sinners. So we all go to Hell?

The question wasn’t who wasn’t in hell. Just those that are. The people who meet that qualification are sinners. Now if you want to talk about heaven that would be another thread.

Since we are all sinners (which we all are) are we all in hell? I didn’t say that. Note I did not say all sinners are in hell however all those in hell are sinners. The question is who is in hell so the answer is obvious. Sinners. Sin by its nature sends us to hell and we are all born with it if you agree with the bible and St. Augustine. So you were on your way to hell. Just like everyone else. However, God has made a way of redemption for us so that we may be saved. Those of us who freely accept that faith that God gives us and operate in that faith (working out our salvation with fear and trembeling) are saved from our natural destination. So all people in hell are sinners yet not all sinners are in hell.

Muslim Woman;5187884anyone worships any human being or angel or any creation of God Almighty as diety & die without repentance will be in fire forever . Blashphemy is the most major sin & only punishment is eternal fire. If any Muslim worships Muhammed (pbuh) as diety , s/he will be in fire , too.
Would that be a “Yes, I believe all Christians go to hell because they believe Jesus is God” or “No, I don’t believe all Christians go to hell.” ?

Good afteroon firstmode! I’m glad to meet you and hope you are having a good day. 🙂

I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a.k.a Mormon Church). Of the Christian churches, our belief about hell is somewhat unique. In the spirit of your request, I am simply posting a response for informational purposes and not as a refutation to anyone elses beliefs. In the same vein, if there are refutations to my post, I do not intend to defend it.

In Mormon understanding there are two understandings of hell. To illustrate this, let me explain a bit about the Mormon conception of our afterlife. We believe that when we die, our spirit is separated from our body. Our body goes in to the earth and rots. Our spirit, however, goes to the Spirit World. This is best explained as a temporary waiting place where spirits continue to live and and interact until the Resurrection and Final Judgment. In the Spirit World, in this temporary resisdence of the spirits, there are two divisions. Spirit Prison and Paradise.

Paradise is where the “…spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness…a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow” (Alma 40:12).

Spirit Prison (or hell) is where you will find “…[those] who received not the gospel of Christ, neither the testimony of Jesus. These are they who deny not the Holy Spirit. These are they who are thrust down to hell. These are they who shall not be redeemed from the devil until the last resurrection, until the Lord, even Christ the Lamb, shall have finished his work” (D&C 76:82-85).

The hell in this sense, has an end. People who accept not the Atonement of Jesus Christ, will need to suffer the penalty of their own sins. Once the penalty has been paid, however, they will be “…resurrected to a degree of glory of which they are worthy” (lds.org).

The second sense of the Mormon understanding of hell is the permanent place where those who have blasphemed against the Holy Ghost (Sons of Perdition) go. Because they have “den[ied] the Son after the Father has revealed him” and “breaketh [the] law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto [themselves], and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin” they “cannot be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment. Therefore, they must remain filthy still” and they will “reign with the devil and his angels in eternity, where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched, which is their torment” (D&C 76:43, 44; D&C 88:35).

In Mormon understanding, very few will actually suffer the fate of the permanent hell, or outer darkness. For most people in hell, hell will be a temporary thing until justice has been satisfied, and they will inherit some degree of glory although they will not be partakers of the fullness of God’s glory or capable of receiving all that the Father has; this reward being reserved for those who were valiant in following Jesus Christ and His gospel, and endured to the end of their lives. However, in the end, all but the Sons of Perdition, will be happy to the extent that they have chosen happiness.

Thank you for the question and for the opportunity to share and to receive different understandings on hell.

Kind Regards,
Finrock

I once heard it said that hell is proof that God is Love. Why? Because God’s love is a free gift that can be rejected or accepted. We are not slaves that are “forced” to love and live for Him. We can choose this life and the next without Him.

So who goes to/is in hell? Beats me.🤷 It’s above my paygrade.😉

I’m a believer in Jesus Christ.

According to the scriptures I believe is God’s Word, Jesus IS God. Jesus is Lord. Jesus is the Living Word of God. Jesus is God Incarnate, that is, God in human flesh, come down to earth to us, GOD WITH US, Immanuel/Emmanuel to live in and be tempted in a body like ours. He was tempted of Satan but Jesus passed all trials he never committed one act of sin.

Jesus said:

I am the door
I am the rock
I am the Living Water
I am the Way
I am the Truth
I am the Life
I am the Resurrection
I am the Good Shepherd who gives his life for his Sheep
I am the unblemished Lamb
I am King of the Jews

In the Old Testament FATHER God said I am your Saviour. Father God said I am JEHOVAH. Father God said I am the GREAT I AM.

Jesus is the Great I AM of the Old Testament, Jewish Scriptures.

all who enter into God’s Kingdom must enter through belief on Jesus the Door. The full gospel of Christ is this, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us by crucifixion. He gave his life for us, laid it down so we might live and live a good life more abundantly. He paid our sin debt, which is death and eternal separation from God our Creator.

God, as Jesus, died, was buried was buried and arose from the grave on the 3rd day, Resurrected himself from the Grave. He ascended into Heaven and today sits at the right hand side of God, until all his enemies are put under his foot like a footstool, defeated.

God is not the God of the dead but of the Living. All those who died believing and trusting in Christ are his, and sealed from that moment of belief.

Believers’ bodies ( vessel house for the Holy Spirit ) go into the grave at death to sleep and return to dust. The Spirit goes back to God who gave it. When Christ returns the dead in Christ bodies will rise first, somehow spirit and body will be reunited and transformed into a glorified immortal body like Christ’s. Then those who are alive on earth that day, believers will rise into the air and we will be with Christ forever. He left earth to prepare a place for us, mansions in the House of God, so that where Christ is, there we can be also.

Christ will raise up all believers on the Last Day. He will give us a new glorified body, corruption will put on incorruption, mortality will put on immortality and we will ever be with the Lord and enjoy Eternal Life with our Creator God who has prepared such wonders for us that our eyes and ears have never seen anything close.

He shed all of his blood for us evidenced by the water gushing from his side. His blood, if we choose to accept his free gift of salvation and cleanses us from all unrighteousness and our sins are covered by his precious blood, never to be remembered any more by God.

We become a new free creature in Christ, the old sinful life passes away along with the guilt burden. He forgives our sin and we can put down the sin burden of guilt, what a wonderful freedom to live in Christ and find rest for our souls.

Matthew 11:29 King James Bible

Jesus said:

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Jesus said he and the Father are One. No one comes to the FAther, except thru Christ.

Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels and is where all Christ haters, Christ rejectors, Rejectors of the Holy Spirit ( Goats, weeds, chaff ) will go after death and the Great White Throne Judgement.

God’s Judgment will begin with his People. The Sheep will be judged for every word they uttered and for every work they did. Some will earn rewards and crowns…some will be saved by the skin of their teeth, just barely. We will lay our rewards and crowns at the feet of Christ. He is coming again to defeat his enemies.
