I live in the Cincy area and we are blessed to have two Tridentine Masses close by. For a while, I had my little family at the TLM, but my wife prefers the N.O. In order to preserve family peace, we stopped going to the TLM. I REALLY MISS THE TLM. I yearn for it. I was thinking, however, of praying the N.O. Mass with my family and then, later Sunday, praying the Tridentine Mass. Does anyone else do this?

I don’t but in your situation I would go to the N.O. with the wife then go solo to the TLM. His Holiness John Paul II growing up went to Mass twice every Sunday.

The husband watches the toddler while I go to the TLM, then I will watch the little one when he goes to the N.O. 6pm where he reads. I enjoy both, since our home parish has N.O. masses that adhere to the rubrics.

If it’s not a problem for your wife that you go off on your own on Sundays then why not go to both Masses?

It doesn’t happen every Sunday but I sometimes have choir obligations at a Mass that my family does not care to attend. I often go to two Masses on such Sundays: one to sing and one to be with family. It’s nice to actually get to sit with my family occasionally.

I have, but in those cases normally I will attend the vigil Mass Saturday and then the Traditional on Sunday. If I go to both on the same day, I will only receive at one or the other though. As for the Vigil and then the Sunday, I receive at both.

Last year, I would take my girls to the 9:30 mass for choir and then attend 6:30 as a family with my hubby. We haven’t made choir yet this year.

As far as I know you can receive Communion twice a day.
I have asked this question to the priest in my church before.

I usually attend Saturday evening Mass by myself then attend Sunday morning Mass with my family. But if I attended two Mass on Sunday, I would receive Communion both times.

A friend of mine goes twice every weekend - the entire family goes Sunday morning, then he and his son attend the Sunday night LifeTeen Mass and he helps with the LifeTeen program after Mass.

I sometimes do. I am currently attending the RCIA mass with my fiancee then go to divine liturgy later on in the morning.

I’d love to go to Saturday morning Mass and Sunday Mass every weekend if I could.

I live in Mason…What two TLM’s are you referring to. I know of four…

My situation is somewhat similar. My wife is willing to go to the TLM with me, but likes the NO as well and for herself would prefer a balance of the two. Despite her willingness to attend with me, though, her pregnancy has made her little able to attend the 7:00 am TLM without feeling faint and nauseous. So I now attend the 7:00 am TLM by myself and then take her to an NO later in the day. Not only are there spiritual benefits, but you earn brownie points with the priest!

Catholic Heart,

I am referring to the TLM at Sacred Heart Church (Camp Washington) and the one at St. Mary’s Basilica (Covington).
The High Mass at the Basilica is absolutely beautiful. I weep every time the choir sings Pange Lingua.

My family always goes to the Vigil Mass (5 PM) on Saturday - and I go to daily Mass during the week. When my 3rd grader proudly told a friend “my mom goes to Mass every day but Sunday”, I thought about it and started going back to Sunday Mass before everyone got up. I love it. I like to hear another homily a different perspective.
