I thought so. 😉 Nothing is impossible, I’ll give you that. 🙂
Many of us Catholic Christians here, never even thought of converting, but were just “looking into” what Catholic believe:)

That is what can happen when you ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to all truth every time you sit down with your bible;)

I do that each and every day because I feel like there is SOOOOO much yet to learn. 😃

And look where the Holy Spirit has led you:D CATHOLIC answers.

But seriously, I pray I never feel like I’ve learned everything I can, as I am sure you do also.

God Bless,
Maria

Most definitely because I don’t think we can ever learn everything there is in a lifetime, even! 🙂

You guys don’t think I’m gonna convert, do you? 🙂
Hey - I’ve been where you are. I was surfing around on the Internet on November 8 of 2000, and came across this really nutty Catholic message board, so I joined up to set them all straight about Protestantism and convert 'em to the Jesus of the Bible (cos, I mean, MAN, they were lost - I thought) - and I was on the phone with a Catholic priest on November 30 - I think that’s what - about three weeks, something like that? I started RCIA and private instruction on January 10, and I went to First Confession on the morning of April 14th - got Confirmed and received my First Holy Communion that evening. About six months, all told. Less than that, really …

So - yeah - welcome to the journey!! 👍

Where does it say that the Tradition of the Church IS God-breathed?
Here is a Jimmy Akin article on this subject

INSPIRATION, TRADITION, AND SCRIPTURE

"Technically, the word “inspiration” does not appear in Scripture. The term that is translated “inspiration” is theopneustos, but “inspiration” is not best translation of this term. “God-breathed” is, and even that term only appears in 2 Tim. 3:16. "

“Is Apostolic Tradition inspired? In one sense it is, but in another it isn’t. When God initially revealed doctrines to the apostles he determined the form in which these teachings came to them, so the original giving was inspired. But God did not directly fix the way the apostles expressed these teachings to others. The apostles might express a single doctrine from God in a variety of ways. So while the original giving of Apostolic Tradition was inspired, the words in which it has been passed down to us are not inspired.”

ALLFORHIM:
What, specifically, would PROVE apostolic succession to you?
If it were spoken of in the bible but it is just not.😦
Why would you need this in the Bible to prove it to you? (We do see it in there, by the way.) Would you need biblical evidence in order to prove the succession of presidents in our country?

The fact that their is a succession long before the BIble was even compiled should say a lot to you. Where did they get this practice from? Since it is traced all the way back to the Apostles, even if there wasn’t scriptural evidence for it (which there is), one could easily conclude that it originated with the Apostles.

WoW!!! http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/w00twave.gif Now that’s what you call the Holy Spirit moving swiftly!! Wow!! God wanted those scales removed from your eyes quickly! So He removed them!

If only everyone can convert that quickly. But I know God has a time for everyone. I am to be patient along with those non-Catholic Christians who want to see the Fullness of the Truth but don’t know for sure if it’s in the Catholic Church. I am here to tell you that it is in the Catholic Church. But I know that only God can convert you through the Holy Spirit. He will make it happen but in His own time. :gopray: That is why I continue to pray.

I am a cradle Catholic but I did not go to Mass for a long time. Now I am here and I love my Catholic faith. I love Jesus for establishing His Church here on earth and for giving us an earthly Shepherd in Peter the Rock and in all his successors, the Popes. Thank you God! The Church protects the TRUTH and makes us know who Jesus Christ is.

This is a good point. As a new Christian about 15 years ago, I believed that somewhere, someplace, the original church that Jesus founded must still exist. However, some of the early literature I read was by SDAs, JWs and fundamentalists, so it poisoned me against the Church for a long time. Like many non-Catholics on this board, I had my Bible and thought “I knew better.” So, all you can do is pray for them and give it time.

Wow, thank you for your little conversion story. 🙂 I know there’s more to it than just this but just to hear this is good. I guess it takes a lot to admit what you just admitted. My prayers are with you and with all Christians on this forum. :gopray:

Well if you really knew me you would know I am not that kind of person. I am actually a people pleaser to a fault. Of course I would never bend on my faith.👍
🙂

No doubt you’re a great person, 'ol bud…!

Most “feisty” folks in forums are very giving and affectionate people.

Me too.

Keep up the good work…! 👍

We would probably all get along too regardless of our differences.👍

Maybe we should have a big Catholic Forum Get together in the middle of the country.😃

I’ll host it in Springfield, MO. It’s only an hour away from where I live. 😃

Of course everything contained in scripture was orally passed down since it was several hundred years after Jesus died before the Bible was even composed.
There’s your answer!! Some where written, but some still exsisted as oral traditions. See, you’re closer than you think…and you’re smart, one day you’ll wake up and say “Oh, yeah, now I get it”🙂

Yes, I neglected to mention the first part of the story - I had been doing battle with the Catholic Church for 17 years prior to that, including twice through the first two of the four periods of RCIA in 1985 and 1986. (Poor Father A.!! 😛 )

Tell me where I denied oral traditions?
Whenever you or any Protestant denies the Magisterium of the Catholic Church you are denying Oral Tradition.
Blue Serenity:

Yes, but remember it was passed down as oral Tradition before the Bible was written but not all that was passed down as oral Tradition was written down in Scripture. And this is why we need the Magisterium of the Catholic Church to let us know what that oral Tradition is that was passed down but not written.

15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and
hold fast to the traditions that you were
taught, either by an oral statement
or by a letter of ours.
2 Thes 2:15

25 There are also many other things
that Jesus did, but if these were to be
described individually, I do not think
the whole world would contain the
books that would be written
.
Jn 21:25

Did St. Ignatius have any reasoning why he made the little “c” into the big “c”? And why did it stick after that?

Manuscripts at that time and for long after, CAPTALISEDALLLETTERS - they didn’t separate words, either.
