Who has the authority in "sedvacentist catholic" churches?

i know that we are not supposed to discus sedvacantism on this forum but this question has more to do with thier authority system than the sedvacantists themselves.

Who has the authority to decide which sedvacantist church is the “real” church?

for instance, there are some that claim that we havent had a real pope since Pius XII. others have elected their own popes like “Pius XIII” “Peter II” “Linus II” “Michael I” “Gregory XVII”
how can a sedvacantist know that he is right when there are other sedvacantist churches dissagree with him on who the “pope” is?

I’d say by the same assurance that any church is schism has. Whatever misguided history they subscribe to.

The question sounds a lot like the question of how Protestants know who’s in charge or who has the correct Bible interpretation. I don’t see a good answer for them either.

Technically speaking,
those who have elected their own little Pope
are no longer sedevacantists.
It would be more appropriate to say that they are
followers of an Anti-Pope.

Interesting question. I suppose they follow what ever authority they decide to follow - in other words they are their own authority.

My guess is they will follow a pope that mandates a universal return to the Latin Mass. Of course, if that doesn’t happen soon there will be an entire generation (or two) without any personal experience or history of being in union with Rome and nothing will bring them back as a group or groups.

The groups who have elected their own Pope tend to be VERY small - little more than family units, I believe. Could be wrong though.

The sedevacantists are exactly the same as Protestants. Where Protestants rely on their personal interpretation of Scripture, sedevacantists do the exact same thing with Tradition.

I agree with Rand. Breaking away, starting your own church and electing your own Pope seems to me to be Protestantism with a little Catholic frosting on top.-

It has caused some problems in the past with arguments getting out of control and very uncharitable. I once suggested a sub forum for the topic where only members who had promised to be charitable and had been approved could post (the mods could control who posts and you would have to promise them you would remain polite before your user name would be allowed to post), but so far no luck with that.
