Honestly, I can’t think of ANY denomination that hates Mary.

I can think of denominations that would say… “Um, Well, She is dead…” they don’t mean spiritually dead. They mean they mean she is in Heaven with God, Focusing all her attention on Him and cannot access the earth. I know Catholics don’t believe the same but how does that make this person “Anti-Mary”? They believe she was blessed by God and was the mother of Jesus. I can’t find hatred there, only disagreement!

Others will say “Prayer is ALWAYS a form of worship and therefore it’s wrong to pray to others than God.”
Again NOT what Catholics believe but also NOT hatred towards Mary or anyone else.

Who and where are these “Mary Haters” people keep referring to?

I haven’t met any in real life, but there are plenty of them on the Internet. On one web site I went to, they said in their Statement of Doctrine that Mary is the “Whore of Babylon.” (I asked them what that makes her Son, but never got a straight answer.) 🤷

I’d have asked them the same. Too bad thay had no answer, it would have been interesting.

I agree. While Mary was certainly blessed of God to be chosen to be the mother of the long-awaited Mashiach Nagid (Messiah the Prince) as every good Jewish mother wanted to be.

As a matter of fact, we respect her soooooo much that we hold to her desire “do whatever He tells you…” not: “whatever I tell you…” Mary, in her obedience and need for a savior herself, knew that she needed to direct attention away from herself an onto her Son.

Mary would be grieved and her heart pierced even more if she knew how many more churches and shrines there are in her name and dedicated to her than there are to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Let me make it perfectly clear that Mary is NOT the whore of Babylon.

However, there are demons and deceiving spirits out there PRETENDING to be Mary and leading many astray.

True. That’s why any such claims are always rigorously investigated by the authorities of the Church, to make sure that the messages being received are in line with the Holy Tradition. (It’s interesting that Mary never identified herself as “The Immaculate Conception” in a vision, until after a Pope had given her that title, officially. 🙂

Oh, there are Mary Haters out there.

I can’t repeat what they’ve said about her here because I’d get banned for using vulgarity.

In short, they’ve expressed a wretched discomfort and complete anger and wrath at the mention of her name.

What do Anti-Marians and Satan have in common?

They both hate Mary.

To think…that God would use her as a transport vehichle and leave her to her own sin “after” He got what He wanted from her (the usage of her body as a taxi cab ride).

It’s dispicable to me when people imply that God used her.

To the contrary…God has always justly rewarded those who’ve served Him and who has served God (and us) more than Mary?

Thanks to her, Jesus came. He would’ve come anyway, but God chose her. God did. Not us. I think I’m going to roll with God with His choice.

👍

I love the Blessed Mother, I feel sad when people do not recognize her and all of her apparitions over the centuries. Take Fatima, when 80,000 people witnessed the Miracle of the Sun. Even the atheist newspapers printed what they had seen. These are well documented cases, yet Protestants don’t seem to get it right. Their loss I suppose. 😦

That is why Jesus taught us to judge a tree by it’s fruit. I’m assuming you’re talking about Marian Apparitions (not the first time in the history of the world and definately not unscriptural, that God has sent us messengers from heaven).

See, if the fruit is good, then the apparition could be judged as from God. But if the fruit is bad, then it couldn’t have come from God.

Can you name an instance in which an apparition of Mary brought forth bad fruit?

From what historyshows us, none has been said to have done so.

When The Virgin Mary appeared in Savana Grande, Puerto Rico, my uncle who was cancer ridden with tumors in his body went. He drank of the stream there with faith and was healed. Did Mary heal him? No. Of course not. Did the water heal him? Who knows. When tested, it turned out to be plain ol’ H2O. It was his “faith” that healed him. His faith wasn’t in “her”, but in her message in which she called for the conversion of souls back to her son (this was an appeal to fallen away Christians).

Whenever she’s appeared, it’s alwasy been the same message…Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.

Satan cannot preach Jesus. Satan cannot heal in the name of Jesus. Therefore, the documented bonafide healings were not of Satan, but of God. So then also the tree must be good as the fruit was good.

Ah, my friend…therein lies the rub. It would be better if they made sure that the messages were in line with Scripture, then they would realize that the Mary of Scripture would never say some of the things the apparitions say. Nor would the Mary of Scripture ever draw attention to herself by apparitions and asking for shrines to be built in dedication to her or her name (such as the apparition of Guadalupe).

Amen.

👍

I think she doesn’t mind that they don’t love her as we do. She knows better than us that they have been misled into not including her in their love.

Funny…Martin, Luther, Calvin and Zwigli loved her.

So not loving her isn’t a “Protestant” thing by religion.
It is the personal decisions of those Christians who choose not to love her.

jmcrae, you rock! Thank you so much for a very logical, rational answer to the “whore of babylon” accusation. 👍 I will definitely remember it.

“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.”
(Apostolic Succession 101)

As to what Mary would or wouldn’t say,
that depends on personal knowledge of her that I cannot say that I have.

Do you know her personally enough to “know” what she thinks? Says? Does? Will do? Has done? Hasn’t done?

Nine million of the most viciously violent cannibals the world has ever seen were converted to Christianity at that shrine, over a period of ten years - cannibalism, which was an entrenched and immoveable part of the Aztec culture at the time when Mary appeared there, died out and has never reappeared again in that place. By providing a place where the Aztecs could receive Christian instruction, Mary made it possible to evangelize in that area of the world.

Or how’s about the 150,000 Muslims who converted to Christianity in Egypt?

Satan wouldn’t have done that.

The biggest ‘rub’ for your position, of course, is that Scriptures is part of Catholic Holy Tradition. Sciptures did not ‘start’ The Church, but The Church’s Tradition resulted in a “Scriptures.”

But you’ve been here long enough to begin to ‘realise’ that and hopefully ‘journey’ to the fullness of the (partial)Truth you possess.
