My Grandfather was the most inspirational person in my life. By his example and his teachings I found the base of my faith and moral standing. Even though I didn’t really know it at the time, it wasn’t until after he died and I got older that I realized how much he influenced me. By knowing him, I am a better person.
My mother has also had a lot to do with my faith in God and the Catholic Church. She was also influenced by my grandfather after he died, and then she continued on his legacy of imparting knowledge and spirituality to others.
It’s ironic how you never realize how much you’ve learned from someone or how great they really are until after they pass on. It’s not until they leave this world that you really understand the real meaning of their words and actions. The death of another can, in way, bring new life to us all. I think this is also evident with the death of the pope. I think a lot of people have been touched by this event in a very spiritual way.
