I saw this comment on a forum regarding the tragedy in Japan. I need to know if this comment is a joke, or is there a guy really out there that does this type of thing?
I don’t want to rely on Wiki. Are there any people here that follow this Baba Ramdev or any Baba like him? Please tell me there isn’t. I don’t think I can get more depressed than I already am now.

Along with lord Ram ,we also have the great Baba Ramdev who can single-handedly prevent earth quakes with the help of Yoga, infact he had asked Japanese to open a chain of Baba Ramdev Yoga centres , it did not work out because of the profit sharing mechanism with Baba Ramdev.

The Japanese did not agree to the 80-20 profit sharing model with teh Baba Ramdev Guru getting 80% of the profits. Only if they had agreed with our Guru. I heard the pandit Ravi Shnakar is in negotiations to set up yoga centers in Japan to prevent earth quakes.

Jai Lord Ram , Jai Baba Ramdev.

The next time there’s a tidal wave, get Mr. Baba to stand on the beach and stop it. I suspect the result would be the same if the Rev. Moon volunteered to be crucified.

-There are such people in every religion.

-The point of yoga is not to prevent catastrophe or to impede the march of natural events. The point of yoga is to live through such things fully, whatever comes, without attachment.

-In every religion, it is wise to avoid those who take undue sums of money. One who is a true spiritual boon to humanity will not ask for, or accept unnecessary amounts of money. In the religious tradition that Ramdev is treading, an unnecessary amount for a holy man is specifically defined. It is more than what you need to live on bare essentials for this very day. Nothing more. Again, I am talking about a true holy person, not the average devotee. A holy person is free from such shackles. How can one learn or benefit from someone who is enslaved by the same shackles as the ordinary person?

Anyway, that is the first test that Sufjon uses to discern whether or not to take a spiritual person seriously. The person you have described fails that test.

Your friend,
Sufjon

I do know Baba O’Reilly. Now I’m in the mood to listen to “The Who.” 😛

This is a three year old news article, but it seems Baba Ramdev does make extraordinary claims.
Baba Ramdev is all you could hope for from a guru. An aggressively luxuriant beard frames his almost manically lopsided smile. Clad entirely in orange, he is fantastically charismatic, occasionally enigmatic and belches with authoritative ease while waxing lyrical on the wonders of yoga.
So far, so cranky. But those under the illusion that swamis such as Baba Ramdev belong to a bygone era - to an India of maharajahs and rope tricks, if one ever really existed - should think again. Baba Ramdev will pull in revenues of at least £20 million this year. He represents a new generation of superstar lifestyle leaders, one that is gaining ever-greater traction both commercially and ideologically among the sub-continent’s newly affluent middle classes.
The blend of what many in the West will no doubt dismiss as new-age mumbo jumbo - Baba Ramdev has claimed, for instance, that yoga can cure HIV/Aids - with something more overtly rational encapsulates this swami’s style.
