Three primary custodians - the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, the Roman Catholic Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Armenian Apostolic Patriarchate of Jerusalem. There are three secondary custodians because in the 1800s, the Coptic Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox were also granted worship spaces and responsibilities within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
It is therefore shared between various denominations of three major Christian communions: the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Oriental Orthodox Church.
Although, it should be mentioned that the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem definitely has the “lion’s share,” so to speak.
