The long answer could probably run book-length. In fact, Pope Benedict recently wrote one book–Jesus of Nazareth–on the subject.

One could write volumes about Him. He is true God and true Man, the Messiah, the Alpha and Omega, the King of Kings. . . the son of a simple virgin named Mary, a man like us in all things but sin, who lived on this earth about 33 years in all, nearly 2000 years ago. . .whose death and resurrection have won for us our salvation. He was, is and will be. He conquered death. He sits at the right hand of God. He established one holy catholic and apostolic church. His written word was given to mortal men and put onto ‘canon’ by mortal men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. That same Spirit He gave us to lead us to all Truth. Son though Christ was He learned obedience to His Father. He is the first born of many --we are His brothers and sisters. His Father is ours. His Mother is ours. His gift is ours–if we so choose–the gift of eternal life.

He is the Good Shepherd. He is “My Lord and My God.” He is. . .all in all. He is to be worshipped and adored. His is the only name through which we can be saved.

And that’s the tip of the tip of the tip of the ‘iceberg’. . . if we had all eternity to speak of Him it would not be enough.

Absolutely brilliant book, by the way. Every Christian church should make it mandatory reading.

👍 :amen: In sum: the most amazing and important person ever to have walked the earth.

Second person of the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit!

I think Tantum ergo gave about the best “short answer” one can possibly give.

By the way, I just picked up a copy of “Jesus of Nazareth” the other day. I haven’t had a chance to get started yet but I’m looking forward to it!

Who is Jesus Christ! What a question! This may be the most important question ever asked in the history of humanity…because the answer gives us the secret to the meaning of life, the meaning of death, and the meaning of our very existence, as well as our mission on Earth, among other things.

He is God. He is man. He is our Savior. He is a poor, bloody carpenter who died nailed to a piece of wood at Cavalry soon after his closest friends abandoned him at His hour of greatest need. He is God himself, come to Earth humbled as a man, who allowed himself to suffer horrendous torture in order to bring about our ultimate, glorious salvation. He is the only man in history to raise Himself from the dead. He has conquered Death itself. He has opened the gates of Hell. And now, 2000 years after his closest friends abandoned him and he died on the Cross, he has established a Church that remains today the largest Church in the world, dedicated to telling people the answer to the very question you have asked!

In short: Learn about the Catholic Church and your question will be answered.

I like how you ask the question
‘Who IS Jesus Christ?’
implies that Jesus is not dead or just a ‘was’,
but that he is now, and is alive…
only a Christian is going to ask like that 👍

Jesus Christ is one of the mightiest Prophets of God. He is a Word of God. He was conceived in a womb of a virgin woman, virgin Mary. God sent him to the people of Israel and strengthened him with miracles. When people tried to crucify him, God raised him up unto Him, and it was made to appear to them that they killed him, but they killed him not, nor crucified him. He will be back to earth to fight the anti-Christ and lead the Muslims.

Hi all …thank you for your responses…all excellent and I agree with all them

The reason I posed the question is to see if anyone would answer in the way I would.

I will let others answer brfore I give my answer

Hi all

I agree with all your answers, does anyone see Jesus as their very best friend who they can trust with their lives.

I mean is there anyone who has never been let down and hurt by someone they trusted?
For some it makes it difficult to trust anyone again.

Jesus Christ can be trusted and will never let anyone, who places their trust and belief in Him and desires to follow Him, down…never
