I recently acquired a book for free called “Who is My Mother? Rediscovering the Mother of Jesus” by Mary T. Malone. I picked it up from a table of free books since it looked interesting. Copyright is 1984.

The reservation I have is I started reading it and she starts off by criticizing Vatican 2 for creating a lack of Mary devotion. And then I read online the author has since left the Catholic Church being because she is extremely feminist and thinks the church is too masculine in its theology. So it has kind of put me off on the book. Yet I am still curious about it.

My question is has anyone read the book and still recommends it or should I chuck it?

From what you described, I would throw it out. Life is short and there are plenty of books that are risk free. Try “World’s First Love” by Fulton Sheen. It is also about Mary, and written very well.

Depends. If you’re secure in the faith, read it, but with your Catholic senses at peak. Be aware of any bent she could have taken.

Or you can just leave it. I have no use for feminism myself, it always seems to lead to the conclusion that the only way for women to be equal to men is for women to immitate the worst behavior of men.

I pray in fear of women who, because of pride disobey God and convince others to ordain them. Or bishops who violate their vows by making women priests. Who knows how much of a higher standard that God’s judgement will be against bishops and priests who scandalized the faith by this sort of disobedience? Or what else will be laid against them or the female priests that lead people astray from the Faith?

I second that, it’s a great book.
Mary.
