Who is offering the Eucharist?

Is it the priest? Is it “us” (who are all together at the Mass)? Or is it Jesus Himself because afterall, it is His Body present?

…so again, when the priest says “we offer” or “please accept this Sacrifice” … who is offering?

Jesus Christ himself is. He is the eternal High Priest who offers himself once for all to the Father. The Sacrifice of the Mass is the same Sacrifice of Calvary, so the priest and victim are the same.

The priest does. By virtue of his ordination, he is empowered to consecrate the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of the Lord, and, acting in the Person of Christ, offers the Sacrifice of the Mass. Through him, Christ makes himself and his Sacrifice present.

We do, since we gather in his Name, therefore representing the Mystical Body of Christ, and as we join our prayers and unite ourselves with the priest, we exercise our common priesthood of the baptized, making the priest’s Sacrifice our own.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

The prayer of the divine Mercy Chaplet seems to think that we (you and I) can offer the Body and Blood of Christ. The priest can consecrate and confect it and we “offer” the sacrifice to God.
