WHo is the cry room for?

I had never heard of a “cry room” until reading this thread.

We have some noisy children in our parish. Our priest tries to encourage them to sit at the front of the church. Without fail they all become quieter when at the front compared to at the back.

I totally agree that little children should be kept as close to the front as possible.

My main problem with a cry room is the expectation that all children who might utter a peep should be consigned to the cry room. It is nice to have a place to which I can retreat, if necessary.
