I’m not sure what you’re implying with your question and I won’t comment on our non-Catholic brothers and sisters. At first blush, the links you posted show people that on the surface are trying to undo the excesses of the Second Vatican Council. If that’s what they’re trying to do, great! They are in my prayers.

They’re all crazy, except Marian Horvat, she seems ok. But I think Fred Phelps takes the cake for being the most hateful man I’ve ever heard of, besides Hitler and Mussolini.
 
I don’t think crazy is the right word to describe Chick or Phelps.

The biggest difference between those two is Chick seems to actually believe the stuff he publishes. Phelps is probably a closet atheist who doesn’t believe anything he spews from the pulpit. He’s actually a scam artist who along with the rest of his shyster family has made a living the last 20 years suing either people who attack them, or cities who deny them a protest permit or otherwise violate their 1st Amendment rights . If you’ll read up on his history, he didn’t start picketing until a couple of years after he lost his meal ticket by getting disbarred.
 
I agree that there’s more to Phelps and his clan than meets the eye.

His daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roeper is probably closest to crazy…and I mean in all seriousness affected to some degree by mental illness or demonic posession. I’ve never seen or heard anyone that consistantly hateful.

There’s a couple videos of her on Youtube, one of the more revealing is a reporter (who sounds english, as I recall) confronting her about her son born out of wedlock.

I’ve never read or heard any of Horvat’s stuff, but at least Jack Chick seems to hold on to a theology of salvation. Phelps’ theology is all gloom and doom, virtually no mention of the possibility of salvation beyond his own family/clan.
 
Jack Chick has always turned my stomach, I know little about the rest honestly.
