Who is the most important catholic saint after mary?

I’ve been around for sixty years and that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of anyone other than Mary having been born without Original Sin.
Is there a reference that you can point me to, please, that can confirm that St John the Baptist was also so highly favoured ?
St John the Baptist died (was killed) and death is a consequence of Original Sin, whereas Mary was Assumed into heaven.

Yes, Mary was assumed into Heaven body & soul but this was after she died. She died like Christ did and He raised her immediately after she “fell asleep”. In Eastern Catholicism this is called the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin. The Assumption of Mary does not mean that she necessarily did not die, it just means that she is now in Heaven with a glorified body.

Hey, that brings up a good point. Would Judaism be upset if we “claimed” Moses and Abraham as Catholics? Do they have to come from Christianity and specifically Catholicism, making them required to come after Jesus?

No, Abraham & Moses are definitely Saints. We are 100% sure about Abraham because Christ says “Abraham was glad to see my day.” ALL Prophets are Saints.

St. Joseph. There were only two people the Son of God “was obedient to,” namely, Joseph and Mary. (Luke 2:51)

In my Handbook of Prayers, published by Scepter Publishers: 2001, it says of St. Joseph on page 521:
God chose Joseph to be the husband of the Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus; he is considered the second greatest saint. He took an active part in the divine plan of redemption, as an example of humility and faith. Scripture tells us also that he was just, pure, gentle, prudent, and unfailingly obedient to the divine will.
 
For the 1st millenium Joseph, John the Baptist and the apostles are great saints.
for the 2nd millenium i think St. Francis is a great saint.
 
just a thought. should we as catholics be ranking anybody, saints or otherwise?
