Who is the Patron Saint of Traveling/Travelers?

Who is the patron saint of traveling/travelers? I have tried looking this up but I keep getting mixed information. Some websites say St. Christopher, while others say St. Anthony or St. Nicholas. I am going to be doing a lot of traveling coming up soon and was wanting to ask the patron saint of travel to pray for me. I have two 15 hour drives and a 36 hour flight coming up within the next month and a half. I am very nervous about all the travel.

You are correct about St. Christopher being the once upon a time saint of travellers. I believed so too and even carried a medal of this saint in my Key chain.

However, I was told recently by a teacher/priest/professor that a saint has to be a person, who once would have walked this Earth and done deeds…etc. Apparently, there was no such person as Christopher and he was not a real person. Hence, he is no longer the saint of travellers.

I cannot answer your question fully, so if you do find the answer, please post it in this thread, as I too am interested to know.

So Raphael, Gabriel, and Michael the archangels are not Saints, yet we have a feast day for them?
 
Correct, as well as being one of the 14 Holy Helpers of the Church.
 
St. Christopher is the patron saint of travel. It is a myth that St. Christopher never existed or that the Church has said he is no longer a saint, he was simply removed from the Liturgical calendar.

St. Raphael the archangel
 
St Christopher has been taken off the calendar to make way for other saints but he is still a saint and his feast day can still be celebrated which ever day it was (I do not know). He was not a “Canonised” saint - did not have to perform special miracles. In the olden times saints were proclaimed without a process.

All of the above and then some. Fr. John A.Hardon SJ would say a prayer to “Our Lady of the Highway” every time I took him somewhere. And if the trip was long enough we would say the Rosary. God Bless, Memaw
 
For the flight, St Joseph of Cupertino is the patron Saint of air travelers.
