Isaiah 52:13 to 14 and Isaiah 53: 1 to 12 tells us about the suffering servant.

Isaiah foretold before Jesus was born.

Isaiah 53:10 to 12 says…” The Lord says , It was my will that he should suffer , his death was a sacrifice to bring forgiveness.

And so he will see his descendants(born thru baptism), he will live a long life(resurrected body) , and through him my purpose will succeed.

After a life of suffering he will again have joy, he will know that he did not suffer in vain. My devoted servant, with whom I am well pleased will bear the punishment of many and for his sake I will forgive them

And so I will give him a place of honor, a place among great and powerful men. He willingly gave his life and shared the fate of evil men. He took the place of many sinners and prayed that they might be forgiven”

Commentaries
  1. is the suffering servant only a mere man? No, man is finite, the sacrifice of man is only finite. A finite sacrifice cannot give justice to infinite God. Justice mean to give what is due. Since God is not only merciful , He is also justice , God demands what is due to Him and what is due to infinite God is an infinite value of sacrifice. Therefore a mere man cannot merit the forgiveness of God for himself and for others.
  2. is the suffering servant God in his spiritual existence? No, God being Pure Spirit has no mortal body which can suffer and die.
  3. is the suffering servant an incarnate God? Yes, an incarnate God retains His being God while assuming what He is not, the human nature. Both Divine and human natures are united without being mixed in one person known as Jesus. Hence Jesus is called
God-Man. Jesus being God all he does has an infinite value including His sacrificial death. Jesus being Man has true human body capable of suffering and death. Jesus sacrificial death having an infinite value is due to infinite God. Jesus therefore give justice to God. Now, God has no reason not to give forgiveness to man which is merited by Jesus infinite sacrifice. It is now God’s turn to give justice to man. What is due to man is forgiveness of sin Therefore after Jesus give justice to God, God gives justice to man.

Where am I not logical in my commentaries? Point out and Refute by deductive reasoning.

Biblical support:

The Word was God and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us …the person is called Jesus, This is the incarnation of God.

Jesus speaks about his sacrificial death…he said “ Take, this is my body which will be given for you…take, this is my blood which is poured out for the forgiveness of sin”

Jesus fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah about suffering servant Therefore Jesus is the suffering servant
