Is Mike Pompeo a person who like Trump just say stuff even if there is no evidence for it?
What he said about a virus being man made is according to scientist not a thing that really happens.
“From our perspective, this remains speculative,” Dr. Michael Ryan told reporters in Geneva.

Is this guy who just wanna sound like “God bless America”, ie he is not a serious guy and can not be trusted?

sure he needs blessing but…is he trustworthy or not?
There are some politicians who would even spread big lies just to show off. Some Americans just wanna show how big and great USA is. Nothing wrong with thanking God for living in a certain country. I think we are supposed to thank. God bless America is a prayer and that is good.
What you Catholics really disslike is when people lie. I speculate that this Pompeo either is lying or believing something that goes against what most scientists believe.
Maybe he is just trying to show that:
USA=good
China=bad
I am a just speculating as I do not know much about this guy.

Here you write as if speculating without evidence (about the virus) was wrong.

And here you write as if speculating without evidence (about Pompeo) was not wrong.

I’d say you should make some effort to harmonise those positions…

It is ok if Pompeo says that he thinks it is man made even though scientists ussually don’t agree with him. He actually said that he has extremely good evidence and that it is man made in China. He never showed any evidence. This is more than him just telling the world what he thinks could have happened.
He said: “There is enormous evidence that that’s where this began,…I can tell you that there is a significant amount of evidence that this came from that laboratory in Wuhan.”
This more than just speculating and thinking. He bassically told the world that the virus is man made. I will never trust him!

So, either Pompeo has some evidence and does not give it for some reason (for example, because giving it would give away identity of some spy), or he is speculating without evidence.

And you are definitely speculating about him.

If he is wrong in speculating about the virus, you are also wrong in speculating about him.

Now you have several options:
  1. Modify your position concerning Pompeo - for example, saying that you wonder if he is telling the truth, and leaving it at that.
  2. Modify your position about speculating without proof being bad - that might lead to an interesting discussion in another subforum concerning specific conditions when it is bad.
  3. Look for another way to harmonise those positions.

Questions:
Why is he saying that he has evidence but refuse to show the evidenve to anyone? Wouldn’t it be good if WHO saw the evidence?
Sometimes people speak as if they have evidence just to show how bad another country is? Should we believe that this is the case or does this Pompeo actaully really beleive in the evidence?
And in the USA is he considered a lier or a truth teller?
Many in the USA see him as a non-science guy. A person who have no real evidence. Is he really saying things he can back up with science?

We hear and read many things in the media that we do not need to hear. Should we really care about watching/listening to the news? Don’t we have more important things to do?
The news is mostly a waste of time it seems. Sometimes they talk about things that one needs to know about but most of it is just a waste of time.

When they say they think it came from a lab, what they really mean is they wish it had come from a lab, because it would take some of the heat off them for their abysmal performance. In other words, it would give them someone to blame, a scapegoat to frame their re-election campaign around. By publicly saying things he almost certainly knows are untrue, he is trying to help his boss after being essentially m.i.a. during this entire pandemic crisis.

Ahh, okay.

And Russia Russia Russia, right? These stupid agenda-driven propaganda games.
Based on what? Your preferred political party’s rhetoric?

Sources, please.

The intelligence doesn’t back up what he’s saying, so why else would he say these things? This administration’s mendacity lies as easily as the rest of us breathe.

My understanding is that Pompeo has not said that the virus is “man made” but only that there is evidence that it came from a lab (i.e., a worker or workers got infected by it and subsequently spread it to others).

Pompeo will present evidence for what he says just as soon as Trump will reveal his income tax returns…in other words, NEVER. But in Pompeo’s case, it is because the evidence does NOT exist. It’s just another attempt to divert attention from Trump’s continuous mishandling of the pandemic by blaming everyone except the Administration: China, Obama, the governors, the media, and so on.

Lol you can’t even get through your first sentence w/o giving yourself away.

What is your understanding of Pompeo blatantly contradicting himself within a one minute period? Is there or is there not evidence that the virus came from a lab? He affirmed both…in the same interview…without explanation. When this administration is called out on this sort of thing, Trump supporters dismiss the question entirely instead of attempting to answer it.

President Trump, who cannot catch a break (he and Pope Francis must have great talks), speaks while he thinks - no filter.

Now as to CoViD-19 is it, or is it not, peculiar that:
  1. A “novel” virus - never seen before on planet earth;
  2. One which apparently originated in bats;
  3. One which the Chinese government has gone to extraordinary measures to minimize and cover up;
  4. A virus for which the government arrested the whistle-blowing doctor (who since died);
  5. A virus which has a squadron of various national and international figures inside and outside of science vociferously denying government or laboratory involvement;
  6. A viral outbreak for which the Chinese government began stockpiling bio-hazard and medical supplies before announcing the virus;
  7. A virus which first appeared in Wuhan, Hubei;
  8. Which just happens to be the location of the Chinese research lab;
  9. Which studies virology related to bats
Curiouser and curioser it gets…

Why do you say THE intelligence?
I only use this word without the definite article. Please explain.
