I hope you don’t mind me posting this question here. I’m not Catholic, but I listen to Catholic radio occasionally and heard a man delivering a sermon at 11:00am on the Portland, OR station this week. According to the radio schedule, it should have been “music.” I think maybe it was some sort of Easter special. Anyway the speaker had the coolest sounding voice that I found myself enraptured. Had a slight Italian accent I think and was teaching from the Bible. I didn’t listen long enough to get the message. Anyone have any idea who I’m talking about? I know this is a long shot. Thanks,
Alan

It may have been Marcus Grodi’s “Deep in Scripture” show on Thursday, if they kept to the EWTN feed for some reason. His guest was Kevin Lowry. You can listen to the show at chnetwork.org/media/deep-in-scripture/ to see if that’s your guy.

But if it was a local thing, I don’t have a clue. You should maybe try to contact the station. I’m sure they’d be happy to tell you what they put on the air.

Good luck!

Do they still play John Corapi? I know when I first heard him, I was always trying to figure out whether he had a NY Italian accent or a Slavic accent.

I’m wondering if it may be Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, who would be Italian, for sure. He is presently speaking in several places here in the U.S., and appeared Wednesday evening on EWTN with Fr. Pacwa. He is the honored designated preacher to the Vatican household.

Every time I have seen this priest, he radiates a holy joy in his countenance, and a fire in his words. Testimony from him reveals that he was “baptized in the Holy Spirit” many years ago through the Charismatic Renewal, wherein he experienced a transformation of his spiritual life. The fruit that many experience from his homilies bears witness to his anointed ministry.

I’m familiar with the Deep in Scripture show and Father Corapi (who does have a cool voice) but it was neither of these. I just looked up Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, but it wasn’t him. The person I’m looking for has a very deep voice, but gets much higher when he gets animated. Reminded me of David Suchet’s voice: youtube.com/watch?v=KkCdDffb4LE
