I’m watching it online right now.
And this sermon is absolutely fantastic!!! 👍

Anyone else watching?
If you read this after it finishes, what did you think?

I am working (from home) but I have it taping right now, although I can hear the beautiful chanting as I work (the Credo is being sung now), can’t wait to watch it later tonight!

Jon

I watched the beginning before I had to go to work, but I am curious that they did not show the asperges, the rite of sprinkling with holy water. All the TLM’s I’ve been to have the asperges. Could you enlighten me. I know it is not formally a part of the mass so perhaps it was not telivised.

I taped it to watch later on. I thouroughly enjoy the TLM and hope that EWTN televises many more.

God Bless!

I wish I could tape it. EWTN here in Australia comes at $300, plus a satellite dish.

I think the asperges was omitted today. They went straight from the entrance procession to the Judica me.

I’ve caught bits and pieces. What I saw of the homily was indeed wonderful.

This may be my ADD-attention-span-of-a-gnat brain and my simple veering to the spartan tastes talking, but I’ve seen several filmed TLMs now and it just does nothing for me … all that lace and tizz on the vestments? Way overdone.

And the readings in Latin? What the…?? Can’t make no sense of why they are read in Latin, nohow.

Nothing can be overdone if it’s done for the glory of God in my opinion.
And the readings in latin aren’t compulsory anymore. We can have them in english now, according to summorum pontificum.

And oh my goodness… The Offertory motet…

But how much of it is honestly solely for the glory of God and how much for the benefit of the folks down there in the pews? :hmmm: Perhaps I’m getting a bit cynical and crabby in my old age…

No complaints at all about the music though, it’s certainly lovely.

It provides me with awe and “amusement” because it glorifies God much more than any gothic chasuble I’ve ever seen.

…shhhhh, the consecration… 😉

I can’t get out of my mind just how much time it must have taken to plan all of this…learn all of this…

sorry…sssshhh …

Imagine hearing the raining beating on the roof right now…we are getting a huge amount of rain!

AAAK! Sattelite’s down! (at least the transmission to my computer is)

God telling us to cut the show short maybe? 😉

On the solemn ceremonies of the Sacrifice of the Mass.

And whereas such is the nature of man, that, without external helps, he cannot easily be raised to the meditation of divine things; therefore has holy Mother Church instituted certain rites, to wit that certain things be pronounced in the mass in a low, and others in a louder, tone. She has likewise employed ceremonies, such as mystic benedictions, lights, incense, vestments, and many other things of this kind, derived from an apostolical discipline and tradition, whereby both the majesty of so great a sacrifice might be recommended, and the minds of the faithful be excited, by those visible signs of religion and piety, to the contemplation of those most sublime things which are hidden in this sacrifice.
