Who is your favorite movie Dracula?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the dracula-like vampire character in ‘30 Days of night’ Cant remember the name of the actor, he is in few other popular things, in his early 50s.

He played the main leader of a group of about 7 vampires that descend on a small town in northern alaska, during the time when its constantly dark of course! IMO, this movie was probably the most realistic depiction of what a vampire would actually be like if they existed, in this movie, they were vicious killers, who had no interest in seducing women, or having any contact with humans other than food, they had solid black eyes, and instead of 2 fangs, they had rows of shark like teeth.
 
I’ve only seen the two 1931 English & Spanish Dracula releases featuring Bela Lugosi and Carlos Villarías respectively. I preferred Bela Lugosi.

In addition; there is a non-Dracula vampire in my memory striking similarly as Lugosi does, he’s from way back in my 1960s TV youth. My sister’s liked this soap opera, that’s how I saw this character. Vampire Barnabas Collins on Dark Shadows played by Jonathan Frid. Spooky looking dude to a ten year old! At the time I couldn’t understand the attraction my sister’s had for that guy and show.

I have a soft spot for Lugosi. I watch that movie every Halloween (except this year to my shame). I like Lee, Langella, and Oldman in the role too but nobody beats Lugosi. He’s so iconic, even if other versions are more like Stoker’s character.

Also, not going to lie, I got a kick out of Adam Sandler’s version in Hotel Transylvania 😛

If we’re counting Schreck’s Count Orlock in Nosferatu then we have to include Klaus Kinski as Dracula in the 70’s remake. That movie was really creepy and for that take on the character Klaus nailed it.

Kinksi could be pretty creepy in real life!

I read his autobiography and its utterly bizarre - pages of rants about how upset he was by a momentary encounter with a bellboy or fan, long descriptions of his sexual encounters, then angry attacks on every director with whom he ever worked. It’s so over the top that it’s actually pretty funny.

He tried to kill his longtime collaborator, Werner Herzog, on the set of the movies they made a bunch of times.

Dark Shadows was very popular when I was a teenager. Not your average soap opera!
 
I remember Louis Jourdan, the French actor playing the role in a BBC version of the story, made during the 1970s.As I recall, they were completely faithful to the book and Jourdan was very good indeed.

That’s an often overlooked but very good one. I liked that they included a creepy scene from the novel of Harker seeing Dracula crawl down the wall of the castle, face first. Most Dracula movies don’t include that and it’s a great visual depiction of his “otherness.”
